Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary, was founded in 1977, is one of the attractions of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh. It is spread over 230 km2 and is noted for its diverse wildlife.

Getting There

  • The sanctuary is about 80 km from Banda and 150 km from Allahabad.
  • Nearest airport is at Lucknow, 350 km away.
  • At a distance of 25 km in Chitrakoot is the closest railhead and bus terminus.

This sanctuary is not very frequently visited by tourists because of the difficult access.

Attractions

It is the natural habitat of several animals including the tiger, leopard, sloth bear, sambar, blackbuck, peafowl, spur fowl, jungle fowl, painted partridge, fishing cat and chinkara.

November to June is the best time to visit here. Accommodation is available at forest rest houses in Manikpur, Ranipur, Chauri and Markundi.
