Return to Forever is the eighteenth studio album by German rock band Scorpions. It was released on February 20, 2015 in Europe and will be released on February 23 in North America.[1]

Background

In January 2012. Scorpions band members went into the recording studio with producers Mikael "Nord" Andersson and Martin Hansen to work on dozen of unfinished songs from the Blackout, Love at First Sting, Savage Amusement and Crazy World sessions. The band had in mind to make a selection between 16 and 18 songs and pick the 12 best out of them. The band members added new parts to the existing recordings such as new lyrics because most of the songs didn't have proper lyrics and in almost every song the lyrics had to be re-written. They also planned to record these songs in a modern way, as Matthias Jabs explained: "We're doing it the way we are recording albums today, but the basic ideas, the riffs, the feel, the way they were written and arranged, we try to keep as much from the old recordings as possible. Thirty years later no one would come up with these ideas we came up with when we were younger, so we want to keep that spirit in there." [2]
