Roopesh Kumar (January 16, 1946 – 1995) (Template:Lang-hi)[1][2][3] was a character actor in Bollywood films, especially known for his role as a villain in over 100 Hindi films from 1965 to 1995. He was the cousin of actress Mumtaz.[4]

Born Abbas Farashahi on 16 January 1946 in Mumbai, he was the oldest son of Ali Asgar Farashahi (Asgar Seth of Pune city, Mandai) and Mariam. He was also a student of Dastur School, Pune. He was fondly known as Dadash (means Brother in Farsi). Although his family were in the restaurant and bakery business in Pune, he chose to be an actor which he loved from his childhood days. He had a lot of brotherly love and respect for actress Mumtaz and therefore named his oldest daughter Mumtaz.

Career

He started his career with Tarzan and King Kong in 1965 and went onto play supporting roles of mostly a villain throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He also directed & produced two films Hai Meri Jaan (1991) and Meri Aan (1993). He died in 1995 at the age of 49.[5] His last film release was Paapi Devta in 1995.
