Safari TV is an Indian Television Channel broadcasting in Malayalam language. It is an exploration channel based in Marangattupilly, Kottayam, Kerala.[7] The channel is part of Safari Multimedia Pvt.Ltd, India.

Being an exclusive exploration channel, Safari is vividly showcasing world through travelogues, explorations and programs highlighting history.

Channel history

The history of Safari TV Channel is the story of a half an hour Television programme that turned into a round the clock Television Channel. It was the programme Sancharam that presented exploratory trips in Indian visual media for the first time.

Santhosh George Kulangara, the globetrotter, started his solo journeys outside India in 1997. He has already completed his journey to morethan 100[8] countries in Asian, African, Australian, American, European continents and Antarctica. The wonderful experiences and splendid sights of his journeys were telecasted by Asianet as a half an hour visual travelogue in a week. Asianet is an Indian general entertainment channel broadcasting in Malayalam language.

The viewers, who have always been fond of travel and knowledge, welcomed Sancharam with great exuberance. After 16 years since Santhosh George Kulangara had started travelling, Sancharam has turned out to be an exclusive, round-the-clock exploration channel, Safari.

The channel was launched on 1 November 2013.

The objective of Safari TV Channel is to inspire each and every viewer to take up travels, both short and extensive, for experiencing and learning the world.

Safari TV Channel has programme production facilities and shooting floors in Marangattupilly and Marine Drive Ernakulam.

Brand identity and theme song

The Swahili word Safari means journey, originated from the Arabic word safar. Today, these words are used for any type of journeys. The channel name Safari TV was a brainchild of its founder Santhosh George Kulangara. The unique black and yellow logo is one of the most recognizable brand identities in the television broadcasting field in Malayalam language.

The theme song, Neelakasha pookkal nullan is one of the most famous channel signature song in Malayalam. The song was written by renowned poet P K Gopi, composed and sung by Nandhu Kartha. Safari TV channel was officially launched on 1 November 2013, 07.00 PM with the airing of this song.

Safari TV is a free to air channel having its official broadcast through (C-Band) INTELSAT- 17 satellite. Besides its large viewership base among Malayalam-speaking people in Kerala and other regions of India, Safari’s global footprint currently covers, Asia, Middle East, USA, Australia and Europe.[9] It is also accessible on internet and similar platforms.
