Sagbama[1] is a Local Government Area[2] in Bayelsa State,[3] Southern part of Nigeria.[4] Its headquarters[5] are in the town of Sagbama. Part of the area of the LGA lies within the Bayelsa National Forest.[6]
It has an area of 945 km2 and a population of 187,146 at the 2006 census.[7] Sagbama LGA is in the town of Sagbama and consists of the districts of [https://www.mindat.org/feature-2327851.html Aduku, Sagbama, Ossiama, OFONI, Odoni, Agbere, Asamabiri, Angalabiri, Ebedebiri, Osekwenike, Agoro, Toru Ebeni, Anyama Ibeni, Akeddie and Trofani, Eriama, Adagbabiri, Kabiama, Daganagbene, Esoni, Ogbonugbene, Egbepulugbene, Angiama, etc [8] and the LGA is under Bayelsa West Senatorial District[9]
The postal code[10] of the area is 561.[11][12] It was reported that a man killed in his roommate [13] at Sagbama,[14] in Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa state[15] and sell his body part to rituals.[16]
Climate
[edit]In Sagbama community, the wet season is warm and overcast, the dry season is hot and mostly cloudy, and it is oppressive year round. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 70 °F to 88 °F and is rarely below 62 °F or above 91 °F.[17] Sagbama is surrounded by water which mainly come from the Forcados River, sometimes referred to as Sagbama River.[1]
The Sagbama river which a major source of drinking water in region, has been faced with diverse kinds of pollution, including crude oil pollution and open defecation by indigenes in the community.[citation needed]
