Scouting in Jersey
Scouting in Jersey is a part of the Scout Association in the United Kingdom, covering Jersey in the Channel Islands. The interim Island Commissioner is Iain Ford who took over from Paul Tucker in October 2015. There are no separate Districts.[1]
During the German occupation in World War II, Scouting was banned, but continued undercover.[2]
There are 7 Scout groups and 2 Explorer units, Pegasus and Kraken.[citation needed]
Including leaders and young people, there are over 950 people involved in Scouting in Jersey.[citation needed]
Campsites
The Jersey Scout Centre has bunk-bed accommodation for 40 people, a camp site and the HQ of the Jersey Scout Association.[3] It is located in the parish of St. Ouen, at the north end of La Grand Route Des Mielles.
