Sengkang MRT/LRT station (NE16/STC) is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) interchange station in Sengkang, Singapore. It is an interchange between the North East Line and Sengkang LRT. It is one of the two MRT stations located within Sengkang planning area.It is directly connected to Compass One and Sengkang Bus Interchange, and is within walking distance to the new Compassvale Bus Interchange. At approximately 7 metres below ground level, the MRT section of Sengkang station is the shallowest MRT station in Singapore.

The LRT section of the station is given the station code "STC", which stands for "Sengkang Town Centre". It is one of the three stations on the MRT/LRT network with a station code that does not have any number; the other stations are Punggol MRT/LRT station and Tanah Merah MRT station with station codes "PTC" and "CG" respectively.

History

On 26 April 1997, the Contract 702 for Sengkang and Buangkok stations and connecting tunnels (including reception tunnels to Sengkang Depot) was awarded to Sato Kogyo-Hock Lian Seng Engineering Joint Venture at $166.4 million.

The station initially opened on 18 January 2003 as part of the Sengkang LRT.[1] The North-East Line platforms opened on 20 June 2003.
