Shin Hye-sun (born August 31, 1989) is a South Korean actress. She made her debut in the television series School 2013 and acted her first protagonist role in My Golden Life (2017).

Career

Shin Hye-sun debuted as an actress through the TV drama School 2013, an installment of the long-running School series, after successsfully passed the audition to cast a few schoolgirl roles. She played a minor character with the same name as hers.[1]

Shin began to land bigger roles in 2015 with Oh My Ghost and She Was Pretty. Though both titles were of romantic comedy genre, her characters were contrast to each other.[2]

Her breakthrough came in 2016 with Five Enough. Both her role as a gullible, naively-romantic woman and her pairing with actor Sung Hoon gained popularity among the viewers.[3] The same year, she starred in the fantasy romance drama The Legend of the Blue Sea.[4]

In 2017, her first film as main cast, A Day, was well-received at the box office.[5][6] Shin then played a key figure in an acclaimed crime thriller series Stranger.[7][8] Soon after, she receives a protagonist role for the first time with KBS2's drama My Golden Life.[9] The drama was a major hit in South Korea and surpassed 40% ratings,[10] leading to increased recognition for Shin.[11]

In 2018, Shin was cast in the 2-episode drama special Hymn of Death.[12]
