Sine Novela is a Philippine television drama series broadcast by GMA Network. The series showcases adaptations of films distributed by Viva Films. It premiered on April 30, 2007 on the network's Dramarama sa Hapon line up replacing Princess Charming. The series concluded on October 22, 2010 with a total of 21 instalments and 1,727 episodes. It was replaced by Little Star on its timeslot.
History
Before VIVA actually launched Sine Novela first at ABS-CBN under the title Sineserye, GMA Network had already produced different remakes of films and motion pictures including Darna, Captain Barbell and Bakekang. VIVA remade three movies under Sineserye, namely Bituing Walang Ningning, Palimos ng Pag-ibig, and Hiram na Mukha. However, these 3 movie remakes did not do so well in the ratings games, so VIVA transferred all their rights on Sine Novela to GMA where it consistently garnered high ratings. In 2010, Basahang Ginto and Trudis Liit were based on the works by Mars Ravelo.
