Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 with the song "Dan najlepših sanj", performed by Regina.
EMA 1996
The Slovene national final 1996 was the first edition that used the title EMA; that title has been used in all Slovene selections since.
Twelve acts were chosen to participate; one withdrew prior to taping. The finals were held in-studio at RTV SLO on 10 February 1996. It was hosted by Tajda Lekše, who had also hosted in 1993.
