Sokolov (Russian: Соколов, masculine) or Sokolova (Соколова, feminine) is one of the top ten most common Russian last names.[1] It is derived from the Russian word "сокол" (sokol, meaning falcon). It may be Germanized as Sokoloff or Sokolow.
