"Static" is a 1988 song written by Full Force and recorded by James Brown. It was released as a single from Brown's album I'm Real[1] and charted #5 R&B. Reviewing its host album, People singled "Static" out for praise, calling it "inflammatory".[2] It contains samples of 4 songs. I know You Got Soul, Hot Pants-I'm Coming (James Brown & Bobby Byrd) Alice, Hot Pants Road, I Want You Just For Me (Full Force) and was the last Top 40 hit of Brown's career.[3]
