Stony Brook University Arena
The arena is located in the west end of the Sports Complex. Constructed in 1990 for the Seawolves basketball programs it has been the home of the Seawolves ever since. It has a capacity of 4,000 spectators. in 2007 the Seawolves played their last season in the arena as it was announced that the arena would undergo a $20 million renovation. The design stage was completed by the architectural firm Populous (formerly HOK Sport), later on it was announced that the project was to be placed on hold until financing can be gathered in the present economic conditions. The completion has been delayed several times and it has been announced that renovations can be completed in time for the 2012-2013 season. Since the 2008 the Seawolves has been temporarily relocated to play their games in the Pritchard Gymnasium.
Pritchard Gymnasium
Built in 1969 for then Stony Brook Patriots, the 1,760 seat gymnasium housed Stony Brook athletics until 1990, when its use was replaced by the Stony Brook Arena. It was used for practice until 2008 when it was announced that the Stony Brook Arena was undergoing renovations. The gym was renovated in 2008 in time for the new season and became the temporary home of the basketball and volleyball programs. The Gymnasium lies at the center of the Stony Brook Sports Complex.
Stony Brook University Swimming Pool
Located in the east end of the complex, the swimming pool is home to the Stony Brook Seawolves swimming team. Free swim for Stony Brook students is also allowed at certain periods of the week. Others are also allowed to use the pool for a fee at designated times.
As of the 2012-2013 academic year,[1] the swimming pool was closed for renovation, but then the renovation was defunded.[2] The swimming pool is currently closed, and the swimming and diving teams inoperative.
Dubin Family Athletic Performance Center
Currently in the design stages, the performance center is set to begin construction on February 2011 and will be located inside the larger Stony Brook indoor Sports Complex. It will be a 8,000-square-foot (740 m2) facility set to be completed during the fall 2011. The facility will provide the Seawolves with a world-class fitness facility. The facility will be named after the Glenn Dubin who donated over $4.3 million for the construction of the project, the largest athletic donation in the SUNY system. Dubin is alumni of Stony Brook who graduated in 78'.
