NR

[edit]

Can someone tell me what NR means? I see it when I compare revisions. I think it means "no revision" because when it appears it looks like no changes have been made.

It means "not rated", as in Northwestern has not been rated yet in the Top 25 Polls for any week this season. Eagles 24/7 (C) 19:38, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Stub

[edit]

Does anyone know what it takes for an article to stop being a stub. I notice that all the available information has been added. Obviously, the results of the games can't be added until the games take place. Do we have to wait for the season to end for this to stop being a stub? Editor Lara (talk) 23:17, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reply — Each project tag has a link on it that will take you the criteria for articles within the project (the link that says "quality scale"). Although the criteria vary somewhat from project to project, they are generally similar. They require adequate sources, coverage of the topic, neutral point of view, and good prose.
I will decline to speak for ChicagoWikiProject and what it would take to rise above "stub" status. For the WikiProject College football, I will state that this article needs citations (as of now, there aren't any), a description of each of the games (with citations), and also accounts of events that happened outside of the games. —Ute in DC (talk) 03:56, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! That information was very helpful. I am new to Wikipedia, and I'm writing a thesis on the types of revisions made to articles. This article is one of my examples. I chose it because it was a stub, and I needed clarification on why it is still classified as one. Editor Lara (talk) 16:23, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RV

[edit]

I see that this week some of the rankings say RV. What does this mean? Editor Lara (talk) 01:49, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It means 'receiving votes'. The team is receiving votes from some of the pollsters in the selected poll, but the team did not receive enough votes to be amongst the top 25.
