Merge
[edit]No brainer, the two articles are about the same subject.--UnQuébécois (talk) 22:41, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Yes, obviously. Aridd (talk) 11:25, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Merging the 2011–2012 Papua New Guinean constitutional crisis and 2011 Papua New Guinea political crisis seems obvious as they're on the exact same topic. However, I think that the 2012 Papua New Guinea Defence Force mutiny article should remain separate as it's a) on a semi-separate set of events and b) is longer and more detailed than the articles on the crisis so merging it in would disproportionately weight the article towards what seems to be one of the less important aspects of the political crisis. - IMHO, the defence force mutiny is part of the crisis, and also should be merged into one comprehensive article. (Merge proposal was added after my original comment)--UnQuébécois (talk) 12:53, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, of course. Title should be 2011–2012 Papua New Guinean constitutional crisis or 2011–2012 Papua New Guinean political crisis. —Nightstallion 16:34, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- While the two articles on the crisis should be merged, it does make sense to keep the article on the mutiny separate, as Nick-D suggests. If this was happening in a Western country, we would undoubtedly have multiple articles on different aspects or actions of the crisis. I put the merge tags on to make sure editors knew that there were multiple overlapping articles, and I have limited time at the moment to sort it out myself.-gadfium 19:35, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- Having separate articles on the political/constitutional crisis and on the mutiny is fine. (When I wrote the equivalent article in French I put them together because they're aspects of the same context, but I fully understand the rationale of separating them.) What really does need merging are the articles that are about the same thing. Aridd (talk) 23:27, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- I suggest that 2011–2012 Papua New Guinean constitutional crisis be merged into 2011 Papua New Guinea political crisis, because the latter title was created first (mid December 2011). The latter is also the more developed article (although that's mostly my doing in the last day). We can discuss what the most appropriate title is once the merge has been done.-gadfium 23:39, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
I've merged the crisis articles and left the mutiny separate. —Nightstallion 12:48, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
