RefImprove

[edit]

The entire Incident section is backed by 1 reference and mostly paraphrased from the same source. Given the abundance of RS for the event, it can certainly be written with multiple sources which are independent. I am also not very sure if the incident section is excessively detailed. Other thing that could be added to the article is about NCW's response/politics around this case. Srikanth (Logic) 06:13, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

neutrality

[edit]

The role of the journalist instigating the event is sub-judice. The mention about this in the intro paragraph does not reflect that. This article needs to be written with a very neutral view-point, since the investigation is still on-going, and there is no official disclosure about the actual facts.উদ্দীপতালুকদাৰ (talk) 15:20, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I too agree with উদ্দীপতালুকদাৰ Bldutta (talk) 13:26, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I Agree. Himjyoti84 (talk) 15:46, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

speedy deletion tag

[edit]

Apart from reasons given above above,

  1. This article is not notable, more molestation even happens everywhere, every hour. So why Guwahati event is "Notable"
  2. Names are mentioned, while yet the police investigation reports or court verdict to come.

so, I put the speedy deletion tag. Sysops, pl take notice.

I support the speedy deletion of this page. If wiki is not a news paper then don't write any news in wiki.Jyoti Prakash Nath (talk) 06:47, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am against the speedy deletion. Lots of such cases are already there in Wiki. So what's wrong with this article? But must be a neutral one. That's it. Himjyoti84 (talk) 15:49, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think we are over-using our emotions here. It happened in Guwahati and it is a fact. As it is not violating any wiki rules, and it has notable references included as well, there is no point to delete the article. We should just notice if there is any false information included within. Manjil Konwar (talk) 21:04, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is an another project named Wikinews. This is not the news paper it is encyclopedia. Jyoti Prakash Nath (talk) 06:11, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should be speedily deleted because...
1.It's not a proper article for encyclopedia.
2.This(Wikipedia.org) is not a newspaper.

Request to Noopur28

[edit]

I would like to request Noopur28 (who initiated this article) to write a similar articles on rapes and killings happening elsewhere in the country as well. Moreover, please write an article on the recent murder of a brilliant student Pritam Bhattacharjee in a railway station in Bihar. Debanjan ray (talk) 05:11, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If such kind of news can be updated in wiki, then I think the racial killing of Richard Loitam, a student in Bangalore deserves space in wiki. So, that news should also be updated in wiki. Debanjan ray (talk) 07:12, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why this fuss

[edit]

I don't see any point tagging this article for deletion. Is this article not notable? Try google search. Is this article written like a news paper article? We can always improve that. There are many other articles in wikipedia which depicts some notable news items, eg- Nellie massacre, 2009 Guwahati bombings etc. If someone wants to write articles on Pritam Bhattacharjee case, Richard Loitam or other notable molestation cases, please go ahead and create neutral articles. Why should a particular wikipedian be answerable for this? Gitartha.bordoloi (talk) 15:31, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely. Why this fuss? The article is tagged as 'Violence against women in India', and whats' wrong in it? Please don't attach the emotional sentiments with Wikipedia. It's a platform for sharing news, events, incidents with facts and figure. Rather asking to delete this article, one can ask for edit it in a proper way. Himjyoti84 (talk) 16:09, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Whether Wikipedia is merely an online free encyclopaedia or it is a socially responsible media? Someone must answer it or there will be more confusions in near future. Manjil Konwar (talk) 21:09, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an encyclopedia not a platform for sharing news and it is not media. Jyoti Prakash Nath (talk) 07:34, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikinews

[edit]

If at all necessary, this article can be placed in Wikinews, not in Wikipedia. Debanjan ray (talk) 08:17, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
