Missile?

[edit]

Why does this article call it a missile attack? All the sources call it a rocket attack --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 00:35, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Confusingly, our article on rockets says that rockets are missiles powered by rocket engines, while our missile article says missiles are rockets that are guided. This appears to be our only source for fourteen and 107mm: surely we can find a better source than that? BobFromBrockley (talk) 12:35, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Good question, rocket appears on the page 27 times, missile only 9. & why "attacks", wasn't it one attack using 14 ... miss-.., rock-... , er ... projectiles?
• I suggest 2021 Erbil rocket attack as possibly a more correct page name.
• Maybe the page creator, Cerberon-900 (talk · contribs) could enlighten us? 220 of ßorg 17:35, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Pretty much all sources, news reports, and government statements says the attack was done by "rockets", not "missiles". Although missiles are technically a type of rocket, not all rockets are missiles, as rockets are unguided while missiles have guidance systems and warheads and are usually operated by organized armed forces, not militias. This attack does not have that level of sophistication. Also, rocket attacks in Iraq are relatively common and well documented so the difference between a missile attack and a typical rocket attack is substantial (See Operation Martyr Soleimani versus 2019 K-1 Air Base attack).
I have no idea why this article was called a missile attack when most RS's dont claim that and I suggest it be moved to 2021 Erbil rocket attacks as soon as possible. RopeTricks (talk) 10:52, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I had expanded the article back in February and yeah, pretty much all sources say that it was a "rocket attack". --► Sincerely: Solavirum 10:00, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

poor title

[edit]

now that there has been another missile attack, this title is insufficient and confusing. Rmhermen (talk) 03:22, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
