east jesus nowhere???
[edit]in the singles chronology <--(bad at spelling) it says east jesus nowhere will be the fourth single in 2010, is this true???? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidevans123 (talk • contribs) 11:53, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
- it better be —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.197.13.157 (talk • contribs) 02:16, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- They've released a music video for EJN that is now available online. --66.57.20.114 (talk) 20:44, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- i dont think they made a video, but i think someone put east jesus nowhere in the singles chronology because its inevitable that that will be the next single —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.197.13.157 (talk • contribs) 20:29, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- What I'm wondering is that if Green Day Authority is right about "21st Century Breakdown" and "East Jesus Nowhere" both being released as singles then I want to know what order they go on because, yeah, the singles chronology is screwed up. --Zzguitar14 (talk) 02:09, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- The problem up 'til now has been that there were conflicting sources. This official annoucement (dated today) is pretty irrefutable: they'll be releasing "East Jesus Nowhere" as a single on October 19. This pretty much just parrots it but at least backs it up with secondary source coverage (here's a source for the music video as well). They had previously announced a music video for "21st Century Breakdown" (can't find the announcement; their news page is difficult to search and can only be flipped through from earliest to most recent...who designed that?), to be directed by Marc Webb, but that hasn't materialized yet. This song hasn't been released as a single or a video, though it apparently has charted in Japan. The fan site greendayauthority.com has claimed that "East Jesus Nowhere" will be the European single while "21st Century Breakdown" will be the North American single, but of course a fan site is not a reliable source and I haven't found any other, more reliable sources to back up that claim. I think at this point it's set in stone that "East Jesus Nowhere" is the single. We can probably redirect this article back to the album, as the only stand-alone notability it seems to have is that it charted in Japan, but that can easily be covered in the album article. --IllaZilla (talk) 02:54, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'd believe that 21st Century is going to be released, there are pictures of the video, and has been circulating longer than East Jesus Nowhere —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.106.57.161 (talk • contribs) 16:08, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- The standard for inclusion on Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. Whether you believe it to be true is irrelevant; we have not a single source confirming that "21st Century Breakdown" will be released as a single, yet we have multiple reliable sources, including the band's own website, making the announcement that "East Jesus Nowhere" is the next single, and it already has a music video in rotation. I don't see how you can doubt that it's the third single. Perhaps "21st Century Breakdown" will be the fourth...we don't know, and we don't yet have any source to that effect. There is always the possibility that they intended it to be the third single but someone (band or record company) decided to make it "East Jesus Nowhere" instead. These things happen all the time in the music industry. --IllaZilla (talk) 18:40, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- On their facebook page, green day said that they would be filming a video for their new single "21st century breakdown" with marc webb, if that helps. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.34.97.216 (talk • contribs) 20:45, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- It doesn't, because we can't cite facebook. Besides, as I said earlier, just because they had planned to film a video doesn't mean that it is the next single. Where is this video? Nobody knows. Yet there is a video for "East Jesus Nowhere" currently in rotation. Perhaps the Mark Webb "21st Century Breakdown" video will appear down the road. We don't know, and we can't speculate. All we know is that they said they were planning to do a video, we don't know that they've actually done one or that it will be tied to a single release. We do know, however, that "East Jesus Nowhere" is not only a music video but is going to be released as a single. --IllaZilla (talk) 21:23, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- It's undisputed now that a music video is in circulation. In fact, it can be bought on iTunes and is heavily promoted on the Green Day website. The confusing part of this whole equation is East Jesus Nowhere. It is not available for purchase as a single off of iTunes so far as I can see. Its "music video" is similar in style and content to another one previously made for the track "American Eulogy", though that is not listed as a single here. Was East Jesus Nowhere officially released at a single? At the very least, some rep over at Green Day is very confused. I vote strongly for removal of the deletion suggestion. - Then by all means please comment at the AfD. At this point I think consensus clear that the article should stay, but I've left the AfD running because it also includes 2 other articles that were near-exact copies of this one back when it was redirected. They were created at alternate dabs in order to weasel around this article's redirection; they need to be deleted, so the AfD needs to be closed which should happen shortly anyway. As for "East Jesus Nowhere", just because it's not available on iTunes doesn't mean it doesn't exist. iTunes often doesn't carry singles. "East Jesus Nowhere" has had a video in rotation for a month, the band performed it at the VMAs, and they announced the single and cover art on their own website. The "21st Century Breakdown" video just premiered, and we're just now getting our first source giving a release date of late December for the single. Clearly "East Jesus Nowhere" is single #3, and "21st Century Breakdown" is single #4. Their music videos premiered a month apart, and their singles have release dates 2 months apart. --IllaZilla (talk) 21:00, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Release Date
[edit]Now the official website shows the release date of December 7th. Which is the most reliable source? I think this one. --Pasqual 8 (talk) 14:57, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Where exactly does it show that? I don't see it. If it's one of their news posts, give a date & I'll try to hunt it down to use as a source. --IllaZilla (talk) 02:34, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- 11-02: At the end of the text in which Green Day's future shows in England are announced. " 21st century breakdown debuted at the top of the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic when it was released earlier this year. The album's title track will be released as a single on December 7th." --82.48.161.26 (talk) 13:29, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- I told you about the release date of December 7th, but nobody has checked the source I've given. Now also this page [1] tells us that 21st century breakdown will be released in UK on the 7th of December. So I corrected it in the article. --Pasqual 8 (talk) 17:05, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- We appear to have conflicting sources. That last one (buzzjack) is a forum and therefore is unreliable. Since the 2 reliable sources we have give conflicting dates, it's probably best that we stick with the date given in the first source. Wikipedia isn't the news, so we don't need to "scoop" anyone; we can afford to wait until the date draws closer and sources of a higher caliber turn up. Failing that, December 7 is only a month away so we can simply wait until then and the problem will resolve itself. --IllaZilla (talk) 17:11, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Next Single...
[edit]It says on the site that the next single is going to be Last of the American Girls... —Preceding unsigned comment added by RickWilliams75 (talk • contribs) 01:51, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- What is "the site"? The only blurb I found merely mentions that they'll be filming a video soon. No release date or details about a potential single have yet been announced, nor has the video even yet been filmed, so at this point adding it to the article is premature and bordering on WP:CRYSTAL. Wikipedia has no deadline and is not the news, so there is no need for us to try to be "first on the scene" with this information. We can wait until there are more reliable sources available and more encyclopedic details to actually provide to our readers. --IllaZilla (talk) 06:37, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- Greenday.com. They said it's the new single, but who cares. Do whatever the hell you want. It's not like it really matters. Just wait a week then we'll get the "release date." —Preceding unsigned comment added by RickWilliams75 (talk • contribs) 20:36, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- Announced via Twitter and Official site —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.94.60.174 (talk) 04:16, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- I just heard Last of the American Girls on the radio, if that counts for anything. It was one of the hit music stations too.
Music Video
[edit]Can we have more info on the Music Video? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.94.60.174 (talk) 04:17, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Track listing
[edit]Is there any source for the track listing? i've searched all over the internet and have to found a single thing on the track listing, just curious if anyone has a source. --Chickenguy13 (talk) 09:48, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Influences
[edit]IllaZilla, I understand if you delete the "I never made it..." line from 21st Century Breakdown in the Working Class Hero article again, as it is not about the cover of that song itself. However, this article clearly states this song provides clear allusions and references to Green Day's influenceS (in the plural) and then only goes on to provide one, so-vague-it's-almost-unnoticeable line. The "I never made it..." line is a lot clearer, and now provides influences in the plural. So please do not delete this again, since it now also sourced. And if you do choose to make another edit, please make it contructive. "Bleh" is NOT an adequate reason and makes it seem like a petty, subjective edit due to musical taste rather than anything enclyclopedic. 86.185.52.78 (talk) 01:40, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
- My edit summary was, I admit, not explanatory of my reason for reverting. It was an expression of my general derision for unsourced, tangential trivia. Thanks for providing a source this time around. --IllaZilla (talk) 02:17, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
