Fair use rationale for Image:Logo-55dsl.gif
[edit]Image:Logo-55dsl.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:26, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Encyclopedic vs. marketing style
[edit]Apparently some authors of past versions of this article have not been familiar with the policies of Wikipedia - or indeed, with encyclopedias in general. Articles should describe basic facts about their subject in a neutral, factual style. Fluffy marketing talk such as the following might be desired in a company self-portrait, but is totally against Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy:
- Thanks to this heritage, today’s 55DSL garments are designed to resist the toughest elements, while remaining aesthetically stunning.
- The company’s upbringing as part of the Diesel family guarantees an instinctive understanding of fashion.
This encyclopedia article is also the wrong place to announce prize contests or job openings [1] (see also WP:CRYSTAL).
Also, please observe Wikipedia's guidelines about external links: One link to the company's home page is enough. Instead, sites containing independent and reliable information about the company should be linked and used to source all statements.
Basic facts such as ownership, revenue and the number of employees are still missing.

Etymology
[edit]According to this article in German (Deutschlandfunk, usually considered a very reliable source), the name is derived from Renzo Rosso's birth year (1955) and "Diesel". Regards, High on a tree (talk) 23:49, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
