Conventions

[edit]

The word 'of' has often been used where it might be more common in English to say 'by' (e.g. 2005: The Seagull of Anton Chekhov). It is probably acceptable, but not ideal, as written now.

But in general I would recommend the following convention: [the character] from [the play] by [the author].

(e.g. Shylock from The Merchant of Venice by Shakespeare).

I have been unsure how to edit some of the article, because I do not know the world of the theatre well enough to make these distinctions.

In English, 'Chekhov' is the normally accepted spelling of this author. --Greenmaven (talk) 01:01, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"tournées"

[edit]

"tournées" might mean "competitions" in English. --Greenmaven (talk) 01:11, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
