Alternate names

Please discuss alternate names for this page here. Boatner's The Civil War Dictionary has an entry for Alexandria (p. 7). There was no specific battle fought. Rather, there were several ambushes of river vessels and skirmishes near the town. Boatner gives the dates 1 to 8 May 1864, though he lists a skirmish on 30 April and the entire Union fleet did not get below the falls until 13 May. I did not use siege or blockade because none of the sources use those terms, though technically it was a blockade. I suggest considering the addition of ", Louisiana (1864)". This would reduce any possible confusion with Porter's occupation of Alexandria, Louisiana on May 6, 1863, and various minor incidents or mentions of activity at Alexandria, Tennessee (February 3, 1863) and at or near Alexandria, Virginia on a few dates in 1861 and 1862. With brief research, I could not find any name for these 1864 actions at or near Alexandria, Louisiana other than as part of the Red River campaign. Donner60 (talk) 07:59, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
