Bronze Star?

This is turning out to be pretty hard to verify

Neither the NYTimes nor the LATimes obituaries mention it, although they both mention that he was wounded in the Philippines.
None of the sites that purport to list Bronze Star recipients mention him.
"Al Fritz Bronze Star" gets no hits on Google. There is a Medal of Honor recipient named Harold Fritz, but he earned that in Vietnam.
