Brother of Eric Coates??[edit]

This edit was reverted. However, anon 91 had a point: Eric Coates does indeed say explicitly that he was NOT related to Albert Coates. Yet here we're saying they were brothers. We need to sort this out quickly, one way or another. -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 08:32, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Children?[edit]

I know he had one child, Tamara, in 1922 (I believe), but can't find references. Anyone know a source of more details of his personal life? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Toodamngood01 (talkcontribs) 21:27, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Was he any good?[edit]

Blimey, this reads (December 2019) somewhat like an apology for Delius, by someone who knows very well that that Fred D. is not counted in the very first rank of composers. Likewise parts of this article.

In my opinion, Coates just missed the revolution that was electrical recording. He introduced me (via second-hand 78s) to some stunning renderings of Wagner, when I knew very little of same. But what are the real reasons Coates didn't make it into the first rank of conductors? Maybe he just wasn't a people person, which tends to determine your fate early on, however much you later become aware of its importance. MinorProphet (talk) 21:15, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
