(Untitled section)

The dates given for the cornerstone and first classes in Albion vary in different sources. Classes begining is listed as 1841 and as 1843. Cornerstone laying is listed as 1840 and 1841. I'm leaning toward the latter, in both cases. Bkonrad | Talk 22:31, 12 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Pictures

Can someone please add some more pictures of the campus to this article.

As soon as we get back to campus, I will be taking and adding additional pictures. Verybigfish86 03:53, 8 August 2006 (UTC) Could we get Arsenault off the face of our college please?

So, Albion's not the 96th best college buy. as of 2010, it's the 147th. just throwing that out there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.39.152.52 (talk) 03:38, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Restructuring and Rewrite

At some point in the near future, I believe that it would be a good idea to include the Albion College page in the WikiProject for universities. I will gladly do the majority of the rewrite (since I wrote the bulk of the article anyway). Anyone else who would like to help is more than welcome...since this is Wikipedia. So who took down the information about Albion's controversy in the Wall Street Journal? It fit awkwardly in the section that it was placed in ("academics" I think), but unfortunately, administrative problems have been a significant mark of Albion College's recent history. 71.10.50.176 05:09, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Much of this article reads too personally. While I am not familiar with the controversy, its not uncommon to see a whole section for issues. Why is there not a section here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.147.222.66 (talk) 20:38, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

New controversy section

TheBTMANIAC1990 has begun an edit war to insert a new "Controversy" section with one paragraph:

On April 2, 2021, university officials discovered graffiti in a stairwell inside Mitchell Towers. The graffiti included several racist epithets towards black students and references to the Ku Klux Klan. The university was quick to condemn the vandalism and even threatened to pursue charges.[1] Several hundred students held boycotts to protest the messages contained in the graffiti until Albion police learned the perpetrator was a 21-year-old black male attempting a false flag hate crime.[2] The subsequent university response was criticized by local media outlets for minimizing the consequences of the hoax.[3]

Right now, this appears to be recent news whose long-term impact is uncertain. It is important that we include prominent events in the history of the college even if they do not reflect well on the institution and the people who work there or attend class there. However, we do not yet know if this event will have any long-term impact or result in any substantive change. This is not a news blog and we have to keep our eyes on the big picture. Future president in the infobox

Banks Irk is insisting that this article's infobox include the person who will be the college's president in a few months in the "President" parameter of this article's infobox. The infobox is intended to include essential information that summarizes the subject of the article; this specific parameter is intended to have "President of the institution", not an incoming president. This may be appropriate to include in the body of the article but it's not appropriate for the infobox. ElKevbo (talk) 23:34, 8 April 2023 (UTC)

This college is going through presidents like most people go through dirty socks, so it hardly seems worthwhile to add main body text on the succession of presidential appointments, soon to be yesterday's news. I mistakenly changed the interim president to the new president prematurely. ElKevbo appropriately pointed out that the appointment didn't become effective until July, and reverted. So, I added the new president's name, noting the July appointment date, and was reverted again, now on the novel basis that such information did not belong in an Infobox. I disagree; this is an appropriate and indeed elegant solution - when July comes, the interim president entry can simply be deleted, and the name and reference is already in place for the new occupant of this hot seat. I pointed that out, and then restored my second edit. A glorification of form over substance, which is what this complaint seems to be, is hardly a hill to die on. Banks Irk (talk) 01:24, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
You are welcome to add this information to the body of the article. Stuffing it into the infobox is not elegant; it's unnecessary and unwelcome bloat. It's not the "president and their likely successor" parameter, it's the "president" parameter. ElKevbo (talk) 01:32, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
Agree to disagree. Let's see what other editors think. Banks Irk (talk) 01:36, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
The input from other editors was certainly overwhelming! Since you feel so strongly about this, and are, in most other instances, usually a reasonable fellow, I'm gonna let this drop. Banks Irk (talk) 23:45, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
