The article says nothing about Cox's background

[edit]

It is surprising that after all these years the Wikipedia article on Cox tells us that Cox was influenced by Luis Buñuel and Akira Kurosawa (hmm, must be a genius) but includes nothing about Cox's background, his father, his mother, his siblings, the school he attended, the town he was brought up in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.187.233.172 (talk) 00:12, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moviedrome

[edit]

In the late 1980s for a few years Alex Cox hosted a show for BBC2 called Moviedrome. The format included Cox introducing and discussing his choice of idiosyncratic and personally influential films. It was the first time many of these rarer, and cult movies were shown to a UK audience. Moviedrome was unique having a film director host such a show and discuss his views before screening his film choice for that episode. Moviedrome itself developed a cult following as did the softly spoken Cox, who enthused many to challenge mainstream films with his championing of what are often referred to as cult movies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.148.40.52 (talk) 00:16, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
