What was Chamkila's caste ?  Jon Ascton  (talk) 03:24, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

he was a jattchamarkhatri — Preceding unsigned comment added by Californianmunda (talkcontribs) 01:24, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He never sang any folk songs. All his songs were written by him. Even the ones about historical or folk personalities which are very few were written by him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.30.2.106 (talk) 23:01, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Caste of Chamkila

[edit]

Amar Singh Chamkila was born in Chamar community of Punjab. ChamarVeer, as I have already mentioned on your talk page, please see WP:UGC. Random caste-affiliated user-generated content is not considered reliable on this project. Having said that, I have just found a scholarly source which mentions that he was a Dalit: [1]. And I will search about his background in a day or two. If you have any relevant reliable sources then feel free to list them here. Thanks. - NitinMlk (talk) 17:08, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Chamkila's caste

[edit]

There are two clear indicators of Chamkila's caste as Dalit. One[1] and second a recent article on him [2]

The author of the UK magazine [3] piece is clearly a content blogger [4] with no investigative or scholarly acumen. Why is this piece being cited to assert Chamkila was a Ravidassia? Ravidassia identity is a political label and a recent phenomenon which was not prevalent in 1980s. Saying anything else than he was a Dalit is wrong. Blued20 (talk) 00:44, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Far Out is...suspicious. As noted on the talk page, there's been notices that some of its editors have been promoting their content on Wikipedia, while at least two of their articles plagiarized from this website. Carlinal (talk) 20:33, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 17:21, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
