It means Alternate (Temporary Address), Portable (Walking or Cycling), Mobile using the vehicles or inland boats' electric supply, MM is MARITIME MOBILE i.e. it is on a ship at SEA not on inland waters - rivers, lakes, canals. It requires the permission of the Ships owners and Master to be operated. In the UK there is no AM - Aeronautical Mobile except under special conditions.
