Relationship to 1807 Slave Trade Act?
[edit]The article says this act was 'effectively repealed' by the 1807 Slave Trade Act -- but very notably, the 1807 act didn't outlaw slavery itself, only the purchase and sale of slaves. The slaves in the British colonies weren't fully emancipated until 1840 (from 1833 to then they were "free" but forced to work as "apprentices".....), so wouldn't they, e.g., still be entitled to compensation for abuse while enslaved? ~ L 🌸 (talk) 02:16, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
