[edit]In February 1862, a wedding between a Mr Thomas Thompson & Agnes Jamieson took place in the "House of Mr. John McFarlane. Teacher. Amherst." Thomas was a miner according to the Marriage Certificate, & 28 years of age. One would think that as Mr McFarlane was a teacher, there must have been a school their. [comment moved from article]
