British-Russian Convention → Anglo-Russian Convention — Reason for the request: the use of Anglo is more common than British. Next to that Anglo-Russian Convention is a redirect yet to this article. Davin (talk) 19:07, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- Were Scotland, Wales and Ireland not involved then? Skinsmoke (talk) 16:31, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Support WP:COMMONNAME. Good books shows 970 hits for Anglo-Russian Convention[1] and 76 for British-Russian Convention[2]. The Hansard notes it as 'Anglo-Russian Convention' [3][4], as do other wikipedia articles dealing with the subject (ex:Anglo-Russian Entente and The Great Game).--Labattblueboy (talk) 17:46, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Inclusion of Tehran and exclusion of Kakhk
[edit]In the Terms/Persia section the following text exists:
"The agreement recognized the country's sovereignty but also divided it into three separate zones. The agreement designated all of northern Iran, which bordered Russia's possessions in Transcaucasia and Central Asia, as an exclusive sphere of influence for Russian interests. The northern zone was defined as beginning at Qasr-e Shirin in the west, on the border with the Ottoman Empire, and running through Tehran, Isfahan and Yazd to the eastern border, where the frontiers of Afghanistan, Iran, and Russia intersected. A smaller zone in southeastern Iran, which bordered British India, was recognized as an exclusive sphere for Britain. The British zone extended west as far as Kerman in the south central and Bandar Abbas in the south. The area separating these two spheres, including part of central Iran and the entire southwest, was designated a neutral zone in which both countries and their respective private citizens could compete for influence and commercial privileges.[page needed][page needed][page needed] "
Meanwhile, it is written in Article I https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Anglo-Russian_Convention:
" Article I Great Britain engages not to seek for herself, and not to support in favour of British subjects, or in favour of the subjects of third Powers, any Concessions of a political or commercial nature—such as Concessions for railways, banks, telegraphs, roads, transport, insurance, etc.—beyond a line starting from Kasr-i-Shirin, passing through Isfahan, Yezd, Kakhk, and ending at a point on the Persian frontier at the intersection of the Russian and Afghan frontiers, and not to oppose, directly or indirectly, demands for similar Concessions in this region which are supported by the Russian Government. It is understood that the above-mentioned places are included in the region in which Great Britain engages not to seek the Concessions referred to. "
Now, what is the point in inclusion of Tehran and exclusion of Kakhk?
Also, which Kakhk this 'Kakhk' is? a village in South Khorasan or a town in Razavi Khorasan? PooyaFerdowsi (talk) 18:52, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
