Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't 10-digit dialing occur in the 416 during the 416/905 split? (not for the 647 overlay...)

since I wasnt corrected, I corrected the article ;> 216.234.58.18 00:51, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No that's not right. There was seven diget dialing for years after the 416/905 split; I don't remember the 905 split, but I grew up with 7-digit dialing. The 647 code needed 10-digit dialing because 416 and 647 are on top of each other, whereas 905 is geographically separate.
i do remember teh 416/905 split , and i do remember that for a time 7 -digit dialing worked , and then 10-digit dialing became mandatory. but, because i dont care too much, i'm not going to re-revert your reversion.216.234.58.18 22:18, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
see, for example, http://www.wtng.info/wtng-1-ca.html , at the very bottom. 216.234.58.18 22:21, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New COs added to 437

[edit]

The list of Central Office Codes for 437 was incomplete, added 992 and 998 -- can't find an authoritative source to confirm whether the rest of the list is current and correct. 207.107.76.146 (talk) 17:21, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistent title

[edit]

The title for this page is inconsistent with the pages for the 905/289 and 519/226.

The other two are in the format "Area codes 519 and 226". I think that one of the two title styles should be picked. Ergosteur (talk) 17:03, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Area code 437

[edit]

The title of this article has been changed prematurely. Area code 437 is not in use yet, and will not be in use for another 2 years. The title should be reverted back to show the actual area codes, with the 437 mentioned in the article, which is the norm with the other area code articles. Question: Is area code 416 a doughnut area code?

[edit]

Supposedly, there are 6 doughnut area codes in NANP.

On the 514 page, it claims that 416 is a doughnut area code. However Toronto is bounded by Lake Ontario on its southern border. For reference, Chicago area code 312 does not seem to be considered as a doughnut area code even though it is completely surrounded 773 on the north, west and south while being bounded by Lake Michigan to the east.

Note of technicality, area codes 905, 289, and 365 wraps around along the Niagara Peninsula to St. Catherines and Niagara Falls, Ont. However, I don't believe this is a strong enough claim to fully surround 416 since a border with area code 716 in Buffalo, NY could also be considered legitimate.

Therefore, if we believe that 416 is considered a doughnut area code, it should be mentioned on in this article to match the precendent set by the articles for the 5 other doughnut area codes. Flyme2bluemoon (talk) 21:28, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
