nonsensical content
[edit]Please stop adding nonsense to this page.
The school's profile says it has an endowment of 1.3 billion... this seems absurd.

Cafeteria section
[edit]Please discuss here rather than revert-warring. --Masamage 22:36, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
A user User:Nationalparks erased content from this page without contesting for an AF'd. This section has been proven notable from several local sources and will be reverted at a later as "blanking" is not allowed Mgarnes2 22:56, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- "Without contesting for an AF'd" huh? Do you mean AfD? As in articles for deletion? If so, you don't need to go through AfD just to remove content from an article. AfD is for deleting an entire article. Also "has been proven notable from several local sources"...I don't see any references attached to the content that was added. Metros232 23:00, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Good start, but don't discuss people or their motives, discuss facts. /What/ local sources?
- On another note, removing content from articles is a time-honored way of improving them. If I go into this article right now and add "More than 99% of the world has never heard of this school! The homecoming queen giggles a lot! The football team loses sometimes!" I have no doubt that you would support the removal of that paragraph. It's an obviously stupid example, but it shows that you can't just call every removal of text "vandalism" without reason. --Masamage 23:16, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I've been having a discussion with the user on my talk page, since he gave me that warning. The paragraph was unverifiable as is (without references), poorly written (which can easily be fixed), POV (about the prices and drink selection, etc.), and probably not needed. It also contained warning messages that are meant for talk space. Another user had removed the same paragraph a few days earlier (see the diff). Nationalparks 00:15, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Nonetheless the fact that you blanked the whole section without any attempt at discussion is the real issue at hand here. Maybe we can have a rewrite of the section, with a neutral POV to conform with Wiki Polocies. And the user that made the change before was a Spammer that has been banned numerous times, and he has recceived a multiple bans in the past. Mgarnes2 00:49, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- In regards to the user that posted 3 posts above this one. The school has been rated one of the top 1000 schools in the nation, is known all over the North East by way of an excellent music department. The entire school district is more notable than 80% of the other ones on here. Mgarnes2 00:51, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- I think we all agree that the music department (and the school itself) is notable, but that is not the issue here. The article will not be deleted, nor was that ever suggested. The issue here is the paragraph about the cafeteria. Nationalparks 01:03, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Exactly. I remain unconvinced that the cafeteria is important. Also, there is absolutely nothing wrong with removing a section for legitimate reasons; WP's policies say to be bold in editing articles. If someone does something bold and someone else disagrees, conversation ensues. That is exactly what has happened, so I think we're in good shape.
- For a third point, the person who did the removing was not a spammer. He seems to have been blocked by himself once, but other that looks clean. He even has a barnstar for defending the Wiki from vandalism. So I have no idea what you're talking about. --Masamage 01:11, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- I was the one who removed the paragraph on the cafeteria most recently, and as I state on my talk page, I feel it was completely justified, and did not deserve a warning. Nationalparks 01:13, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm describing the person before you, Wiki alf (as in the diff you linked). Pretty sure you're not a spammer either. :) --Masamage 01:16, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- I was talking about 207.241.244.1 Mgarnes2 03:05, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, that IP is definitely a vandal. But they have only changed text, not deleted sections. Nationalparks 03:14, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure consensus was to leave out the section about the cafeteria. So I'll remove it again. Nationalparks 00:57, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- However please note it was written with an NPOV so it was not violating any protocols. --Mgarnes2 00:38, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- True, it was NPOV, but it does not add to the article (certainly the way it was written). We established a small consensus above for leaving this out. Nationalparks 01:43, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Wrong Infobox
[edit]This article seems to have the wrong infobox. It is using the "university" one, but should have the "school" one. Do public schools really have endowments? Nationalparks 22:28, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Cleanup Complete
[edit]Okay so today i finished up the cleanup, by adding one more source, and removing the "Scholastic Gold Crown Award" as i checked the sites database and found nothing for AHS. So we are all clear now, Good Job everyone!--NightRider63 20:51, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Great start for your new username! Just one question. Outside people, myself included, will not know what the "2400's" or the "1100's" means. You may want to clarify that. Nationalparks 21:21, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well ill tell you now, what it means as you can probrably clarify it better than i can. They are room numbers. The East Satelite Section of the building contains the 1100's and as you move West towards the West Satelite it increases, i.e. 1100's - 1200's - 1300's - 1400's then the top floor, 2100's - 2200's - 2300's - 2400's. Hopefully you understand what i mean, as i just confused myself haha. But if you could figure out how to clearly state that, it would be great. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NightRider63 (talk • contribs) 21:40, 31 January 2007 (UTC).
- I changed that section a bit. Nationalparks 21:50, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Wait a minute now, i have an idea, yes i have an idea. Today i took a picture of the "Directory" of the #'s it says You Are Here^ 2100 2200. Should i upload that?--NightRider63 22:21, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Pictures
[edit]I can't help thinking that the pictures except the top one are out of place in this article, and i strongly suggest you remove them. If you check other high school articles you will see that this is not customary. DGG 10:40, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- Please understand DGG that this school is the largest High School in the North East. Numerous pictures are absolutely solicited. --NightRider63 03:11, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Is it really the largest high school in North East? I attend this school, and I never thought it was that massive.
sister school?
[edit]I'm not sure of the definition being used here (I could be wrong), but I think of sister schools as schools with something making just them, within a district, special. Union Vale Middle School and Arlington Middle School are simply two middle schools in the same district, and people go to the high school after going to one of the middle schools. I think maybe the section should be called something different, or the links removed because there is a link to Arlington Central School District on the page. Also, if the title is kept the same, it should be plural, and LaGrange Middle School should be in the section too. But I don't have an account, so I wanted to ask before changing anything. Thanks!
- Well they are both middle schools in the same school district, so I believe that qualifies, No?--NightRider63 18:28, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- They are definitely not sister schools, i re-arranged it per WikiProject Schools to Feeder Patterns--English836 20:19, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Attack Plot
[edit]Does this merit it's own article?--English836 (talk) 21:20, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- No, it's barely even worth the amount of space dedicated to it in this article. These kind of busted attacks happen (way too) frequently for it to be that notable. Metros (talk) 21:22, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

I think it would be wise to add the ABC studio to the Student Life Section. As a former student, I know this is a large part of the day for students watching and the students involved. As well adding to the athletics section would help the reader know more about the school. Arlington is a large school who is always competing for Section titles in any sport. The soccer team is known to be one of the best programs in the area, and possibly in New York State. Maybe adding graduation rates for the most recent graduating classes would help readers see how well the teachers work with students making it able for them to graduate.Rm1213 (talk) 14:31, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
