Content Updates

[edit]

This article is unclear what half the stuff actually is that he does/has founded. It just states a name of a center or project. However, when I try to add clarifying information about the different items to help it read better for people who are unfamiliar, it gets reverted. Snooganssnoogans I understand that there has been COI issues on this page, but please explain how adding important clarifying information is a problem. See below for a sample of what I added in bold:

Launched in 2020, Jafar is the Founding Patron of the Centre for Strategic Philanthropy based at the University of Cambridge which studies philanthropy and ways to increase the impact of philanthropy in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

No, we do not add elaborate self-sourced descriptions of every organization that people have created or been involved in. I do not understand why you have chosen to decide to edit this article with very recent WP:COI issues to add the exact same type of content that all the COI accounts were adding: "Badr Jafar has been involved in dozens of organizations. These organizations cure poverty, save the world etc". Your account was created two months after the COI accounts were exposed on this page, so your style of editing and the timing of your first edits seem weird. This is ridiculous! I just came across an article about him and thought that his Wikipedia page could use some work. Especially with the flag. I thought that was the whole point was to use the flags as guides to show articles that need work. I don't know what you mean about my style of editing. I have worked on a lot of pages - none of which I have a conflict of interest that I am aware of. I feel like it is rude of you to accuse me of something just because of a page I am trying to make better. I can just leave this page alone going forward or I can put my recommendations for updating the page here for you to approve I guess. How do you want me to handle this since you seem to have strong feelings about the situation? FiddleheadLady (talk) 15:57, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
So I have given this some thought, and decided that I don't need to just stop editing this page because you are being difficult. I will not be pushed over. I am going to try to make this page better by adding new sourcing and reorganizing it. I am happy to discuss any edits that you don't approve of here or on one of our talk pages. Summary Line

[edit]

@Snooganssnoogans, I added social entrepreneur to his first line given how much he is involved in socially and philanthropically. I am not sure if it is the correct word though? Would be love to hear your thoughts here. FiddleheadLady (talk) 16:50, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
