Avar or Azerbaijani

Descendants and relatives can claim a lot of things. A source from a neutral third party would be nice. Lida Vorig (talk) 19:14, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They know better than anyone else who their great grandad was. His descendants live in Azerbaijan and Moscow. All say that he was Azerbaijani, and that was the language spoken in their family. You haven't presented any source for your Avar claim. Grandmaster 07:35, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, historians would be better than anyone else to know. Kathleen McGowan, self claimed descendant of Jesus lives in California, that doesn't make Jesus Californian, does it? Azerbaijani language was not developed until 1930's. It was a Turkish dialect before that. But considering the fact that he spent his entire life serving the Russians, it's safe to assume that Russian was his primary language. Lida Vorig (talk) 19:42, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Azerbaijani language existed already in the 14th century. That's when the first literature in this language appeared. And self-declared descendant of Jesus is not a good example. Andrei Arablinsky is a well known person, a doctor in Moscow. No one doubts that he is descendant of the general. So enough is enough. It is a pointless argument, unless you present a reliable source to support ypur claims. Grandmaster 05:26, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
