City or town?
[edit]Bamberg is a political subdivision of South Carolina. The database of the Municipal Association of South Carolina lists it as a city. The official website of the Bamber shows the address as City of Bamberg, 2340 Main Highway, Bamberberg, SC.
The US census database shows Bamberg as a town. This creates a discrepancy.
I consider that the first two references (MASC database and official website) add up to a more reliable result that the municipality is a city, not a town. While the census database should generally be considered reliable, it is possible that it is in error.
One editor took the difference between two sources to mean that there was some official change from a town to a city that occurred after the 2000 census. This conclusion clearly goes against Wikipedia:No original research. I am reverting that edit and requesting discussion here.
The history page on the official website does use both of the words, town and city. It says things like "the incorporated area of the city of Bamberg" and "the town incorporated when … " This could be an indication that the municipality changed from a town to a city at some point. However, it does not provide sufficient information to determine it this is truly the case, nor when it occurred. - ¢Spender1983 (talk) 19:01, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Notable people section
[edit]I removed Williams "Beez Kneez" Bessinger from this section because he does not have a Wikipedia article which is required to establish notability. This ist he information I removed, "Williams "Beez Kneez" Bessinger aka "The Bamberg Flash" - Winner of the Mr. Bamberg Pageant 1961, Professional Table Anchor."
