Rice spent four years in a Loretto Prep School in Denver, and Rice eight years in a Loretto El Paso grade school.

I removed this rather meaningless sentence from the first paragraph of the article - can anybody correct it ? - Vanieter 02:20, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Panther Ties

I am just now watching a Book TV forum on CSPAN on the BPP in which Bobby Seale made favorable comment about Congressperson Lee and mentioned that she had ties to the BPP during it's active period. Can this be verified, fleshed out and included in the article? 71.82.88.117 05:21, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

IIRC, she's said herself that she supported their community and social programs, but distanced herself from their militant activities. It could probably go in the article if someone digs up a decent citation. --Delirium 13:04, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Redundant Content

The second sentence of the third paragraph, "Lee is notable as the only person in either house of Congress who voted against the authorization of use of force following the September 11, 2001 attacks." is redundant. The second paragraph has more detail, so I'd recommend striking the 3rd paragraph or merging it with the content of the 2nd. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pcbeard (talkcontribs) 18:35, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Your Black Muslim Bakery

How come no mention of her connections to, and support of, Your Black Muslim Bakery and its leaders? I really feel it warrants and least a paragraph. Particularly her July 2007 letter to Judge Jellen and her explanation and contradictions/backtracking. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.80.101.25 (talk) 21:52, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Feel free to add it, as I agree it warrants a mention...as long as it does not overshadow the rest of the section.--Chimino (talk) 12:54, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
agreed on the point about overshadowing. I would like some guidance considering the article is small and any mention of this would require quite a bit of background. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.99.21.249 (talk) 17:12, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
I'm also not sure where to put it. (Im quite new to Wikipedia) If someone else could assist or do it for me i would appreciate it. I wanted to put something like "In august of 2007 the Oakland Tribune revealed that a Lee, along with several other local prominent elected officials wrote letters in July 2007 to Judge Jellen asking him not to dissolve Your Black Muslim Bakery to pay off creditors. U.S. Representative Barbara Lee, Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums, and California Assemblyman Sandre Swanson all wrote letters at the request of longtime bakery associate, Ali Saleem Bey. Lee later expressed regret for her support." and the source is Cecily Burt (2007-08-16). "Swanson also tried to help bakery avoid bankruptcy". Oakland Tribune. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.99.21.249 (talk) 17:25, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Low importance??

Low importance?? Barbara Lee? Briankharvey (talk) 17:39, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Too many pictures?

Does anyone else agree this article is a bit over-illustrated? I think 10 pictures is probably too many for a fairly brief article, especially when they're all fairly similar. Robofish (talk) 12:52, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

I agree 100%. I'll take out a few for now that seem like the most unnecessary. Ali or nothin (talk) 20:01, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Owner of 300+ employee company?

Lee claims to have been the owner of a 300+ employee company. Why is that company not listed in this entry?

Updating of year

The first sentence of the article reads:

Barbara Jean Lee (born July 16, 1946) is the U.S. Representative for California's 13th congressional district, serving East Bay voters from 1998 to 2013 during a time when the region was designated California's 9th congressional district.

But Congresswoman Lee is still there. Please update the "to" date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:644:500:580D:EC30:8C61:7FBD:396F (talk) 16:34, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

House Democratic Conference

Lee is considering running for the chair of the House Democratic Conference:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/powerpost/wp/2018/06/28/barbara-lee-a-stalwart-of-the-left-considering-bid-for-house-democratic-leadership/

I'm not sure of that should go in the article (or where it should go) so I'm leaving it here in case someone else wants to add it. 173.228.123.166 (talk) 21:01, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

Covid-19 diagnosis

Should the public information on Ms. Lee's COVID-19 diagnosis be included in the congressperson's article? Whoisjohngalt (talk) 00:49, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

I don't think so. It's a pandemic and she's a politician. It's not particularly surprising or noteworthy that she caught it. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:34, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
