This article is written in British English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, defence, artefact, analyse) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Germans?

Should they be treated as subjects of the Kingdom of Germany or as subjects of the HRE? Given the fact that the so-called "Germany" was not a separate state. HernánCortés1518 (talk) 20:58, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The contingent led by Conrad III is universally described as 'German' in secondary sources (and most primary sources - the French were recorded as saying "Pousser les Allemands" to slow moving German crusaders in a contemporary source), so the distinction is not a problem because Wikipedia is constrained by relevant scholarly usage.
