Rewrite
[edit]I have worked up a new version of the article in my userspace, and I will copy and paste it straight into the article, but for the record a history of the edits that went into it can be found at the redirect User:jackyd101/Battle of Les Sables-d'Olonne. it was done as part of a complete rewrite of Battle of the Basque Roads, including two spin off articles; one on the spectacular trial of Gambier entitled Court-martial of James, Lord Gambier and the Order of battle at the Battle of the Basque Roads which lists the ships, commanders and casualties in an accessible format. Its been a pleasure to put all this together over the last few weeks and I welcome any comments or corrections.--Jackyd101 (talk) 23:29, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
- Just an additional note, I have left in some French sources info which lacks a specific source. If anyone can help me with this it would be much appreciated.--Jackyd101 (talk) 23:29, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

This is article very nicely done. I have only one comment. Under "Aftermath," the end of the last paragraph is not followed by a citation. I conjecture that the first citation in the next paragraph is meant to apply to that. However, I think it's customary to end each paragraph with a citation. It helps the reader be sure of which citation applies to what. Aside from that, everything looks good. Display name 99 (talk) 17:56, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Its more complicated than that I'm afraid, and its my fault for being forgetful. This was added to the article without a source a while ago by a usually reliable editor and I meant to ask him to provide a reference and I completely forgot. I just dropped a line on his talk page and hopefully we'll have a good source for this in the very near future. If not I'll delete it. Thanks for the review!--Jackyd101 (talk) 19:11, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Display name 99: Had some help with this, but a source has been located which clarifies the fate of the ships. Let me know if there is anything else you need. Best--Jackyd101 (talk) 16:53, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
