Talk:Battle of Lochmaben Fair

There are two problems with this article.

1) It reads more like a biography of the 9th earl of Douglas than a history of the Battle of Lochmaben. While Douglas's involvement is clearly important, this is not really the place for a discussion of the (by 1484) long ended Black Douglas power in Scotland.

2) It requires better citation. In includes a good reading list, but does not cite specific sources for specific events, which would be very useful. My experience suggests that some of the detail mentioned here is sourced from 16th century chronicles (eg Robert Lindsay of Pitscottie) that may or may not be reliable. Their accounts should not be related as trustworthy fact. Benmoreassynt 17:17, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problems[edit]

This article unfortunately needs to be rewritten as it includes duplicated text and text closely paraphrased from My Wound is Deep. I do not have access to the book to see where it is at its most extensive, but see:

While material was evidently added in good faith, it appears it is unusable. See the cleanup project for more.

I am blanking in the article in the hopes that a regular contributor can suitably rewrite this. It will be revisited after a week to see what further steps may be necessary. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:05, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to restart this article. It may be of limited content to begin with though. QuintusPetillius (talk) 17:57, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That would be great by me. I hate to lose content altogether. Would you like me to delete this one first or wait for you? --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:00, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure actually. When I contribute info to these articles always find a good book to be used as an histroical reference. The problem is all the books I have checked on the Douglas's so far do not mention this battle. So currently I do not have a source to use. QuintusPetillius (talk) 19:05, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I could relist it for another week to see what you come up with? If you come up with nothing, we can always put a stub here in the meantime. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:10, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think a stub would be best becuase info could be hard to find. If I ever get any good sources on the battle I'll be sure to contribute.QuintusPetillius (talk) 19:18, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

←I've created a brief article, but it needs much better sourcing. I am unfamiliar with the period, so please correct any errors I have made. :) I have (shamefully) relied heavily on other Wikipedia articles. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:03, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
