Visitor centre?
[edit]Snyder's Bluff is one of the locations listed as part of Vicksburg National Military Park. Do they have a visitor centre, guided tours, interactive maps and hotel/restaurant facilities? Valetude (talk) 13:10, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Valetude: There is a visitor's center in Vicksburg at the main unit of the military park. It appears there are guided tours (and self guided tours) available as listed on the park's official website and there are plenty of hotels and restaurants available in Vicksburg, along with a number of antebellum mansions available for lodging – it's been some time, but last time I visited there I stayed at Cedar Grove. There is another called "Anchuca", plus several others I can't recall. The gem of the park, not to be missed is the USS Cairo, which was salvaged from the Yazoo River in the Snyder's Bluff/Haynes Bluff area and is on exhibit in the park, along with it's own visitor's center/museum. I don't think there is much interpretation at all in the Haynes/Snyder's Bluff s area, so you might want to specify a tour guide that's well informed on that aspect of the park if that's a prime interest of yours. - Link American Civil War in the body?
- Done
- Ditto with Federal.
- Done, although it's a bit of an awkward link to Union (American Civil War). "Union" was the historically prevalent turn, but the academic tide is turning against it's use.
- And with Confederate States of America.
- Done
- And Mississippi River?
- Done
- "and contained 16 heavy cannon" Perhaps this is military talk, but is "cannons" not the right word to use here
- Either way is considered acceptable, I believe
- "Historians William L. Shea and Terrence J. Winschel..." False title?
