Accuracy[edit]

"As the more direct line between Brundall and Yarmouth has been singled..."
I understand that the Yarmouth-Acle-Norwich line was never dualled in the first place. Provision was made for a it to be dualled when being built (e.g. bridge arch width & station platforms) but dualling never occured due to (as ever) costs. Trains do pass each other at Acle (I think) and most (if not all) stations have two lines through them (will provide source).

that's what I have always thought too, but unfortunately I don't have a source available. Lingwood only has a single platform, but there is space for two. PaulJones (talk) 09:12, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disused 2nd platforms at Lingwood and Acle (I think) - why do express yarmouth - norwich trains run via Reedham (that's why they are no quicker than the stopping service)if not to relieve the direct line. I believe the line was double until 1967. Source required before I add to page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.26.31.107 (talk) 20:42, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion[edit]

""Express" trains between Yarmouth and Norwich take this longer route, and this is the reason why these apparently express trains in fact take much the same time as the stopping trains (via Acle)."
This suggests that 1) they take the longer route 2) They take much the same route as the Acle route. The two lines separate at Brundall. It's confusing to state that they take much the same route when it must be only the first 20% or so.

I would have thought that linespeeds are a major factor in the timings. Its hardly a high speed line maintained for maximum speed of the few loco hauled trains that go on it. PaulJones (talk) 09:19, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Acording to working timetable (and experience) ALL "express" norwich <> yarmouth trains run via Reedham. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.26.31.107 (talk) 20:44, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
