Air Conditioning:

What I do not get is that you all are talking about the repuatation of BHS, but yet, someone goes and writes that our air conditioning fails. Hmm, that makes BHS look really good! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.117.77.166 (talk) 06:33, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • AIR PROBLEM**

I sometimes do not understand what goes on in the minds of some of the people at BHS. Okay, all I have heard is giving BHS such a great reputation, and if the students keep this site updated than it will do so much good. Well, do you all not realize that someone put on here that the air conditioning broke. I know that if I was someone who saw that and did not know anything about the story the first thing I would think was, "hmm. they may be a blue ribbon school, but yet they can not even keep their air conditioning working." I realize that it is news, and that whoever posted it on there was just trying to put the news out there, but in my opinion, I think it hurts the schools reputation!

Student officers

[edit]

(I removed the student officers from the article. Kgregory replaced them, I reverted, and here we are discussing the issue. It started on my Talk page but I've copied the early parts of the discussion here.)

Hi, I think this information is relevant to the Current lives of BHS students. Please follow up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kgregory (talkcontribs) 03:37, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. With all due respect, they're high school students. They're also likely elected or nominated each semester or year thus leading to issues related to the WP:DATING policy. It's simply not information that should be presented in a global encyclopedia as Wikipedia is neither a directory nor an indiscriminate collection of information. It creates a maintenance problem, is useful or interesting to a very tiny minority of visitors, and fails to rise to the expected level of notability for inclusion in an encyclopedia. I'd recommend moving this conversation to the Talk page of the article if we're to continue discussing this issue. --ElKevbo 03:44, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We elect our officers for each club on a year to year basis with the Broadcasting Journalism ,WBHS, rarely ever changing within a 3-4 year period. Biloxi High School is considered the nicest and most respected public High School in the southeast I believe after Hurricane Katrina, having a reference to the only public high school in Biloxi, Ms ,The most damaged town on the Gulf Coast, is absolutely necessary and with myself and others from the school keeping a close eye on the site we can keep it very updated. Please follow up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kgregory (talkcontribs) 22:51, December 7, 2006
That helps to address the WP:DATED concern (but not completely). But it fails to address my other concerns. I also don't recall seeing this kind of information listed in other Wikipedia articles, including high schools and colleges. Although I am sympathetic to the folks on the Gulf Coast (having spent several years there myself, including living in Pensacola through Hurricane Ivan, and still having family in the area, including Biloxi), I remain unswayed by your arguments. But I'm only one editor. Let's let this sit out here for a bit to see what others think. In the meantime, if you want to add the information back into the article I won't remove it. --ElKevbo 04:01, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your understanding with all of this. Keep me updated with the latest. Thanks again! - Kendall Gregory 17:15, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
I agree completely with Kendall. As a student of Biloxi High School, I believe that if we want to keep the site updated, it is our own concern. - Sarah McDonnell —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.229.196.218 (talkcontribs) 13:19, December 12, 2006
First, please look at the history of the article as Kendall seems to have had a change of heart and opinion. Second, you fail to address the notability concern. I assert that these persons are not noteable and I challenge you prove otherwise as Wikipedia is [WP:NOT|not]] a directory. --ElKevbo 18:46, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I understand what you are saying about the dating policy, but I still do not see why students involved in clubs cannot be listed. One would generally expect the visitors to this page to either be students or alumni of Biloxi High, or to be involved with the high school in some way. As a student, I enjoy having this information about our school available, and I believe alumni would be interested as well. - Sarah McDonnell —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.92.245.72 (talk) 21:43, 12 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]
If you wish to remove the part about the International Culture Club due to the controversy about students being listed, I will not do anything. I added that section for my friend today before I read the discussion, and I apologize for doing so. - Sarah McDonnell —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.92.245.72 (talk) 21:47, 12 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

I'm beginning to think the article should be unlocked, due to the lack of student contributions. - Trillionaire 03:32, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a directory. I'm sorry, but you cannot list your names here. I and other editors will remove them if you put them back. If you want to make the information available, please choose another option, such as MySpace, where that is acceptable. Grace Note 06:13, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Attribution / Original Research

[edit]

The lists of students do not appear to be included on the school's official website or in any other reliable source, so they must be removed per Wikipedia's attribution policy. For the students and others not accustomed to Wikipedia's policies, Wikipedia is strictly a secondary source, and original research is not permitted here. "Original research" includes anything that you know from personal involvement with a subject or from a published source that is not recognized as reliable. It's not prohibited because it's not true, or because it's not important, just because it hasn't been taken from a reliable published source. (Students, you might want to talk to your school administration about posting these lists on the school website.) --Butseriouslyfolks 05:25, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WBHS

[edit]

I'm trying to say that the WBHS program for this school is being canceled sometime in early 2007. Trillionaire 00:25, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First, you'll need to find a source supporting your assertion. Second, if it's as simple as you have made it sound here then why not just say that, verbatim? --ElKevbo 00:48, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am a senior editor for WBHS and "trillionaire" has absolutely no backbone to his assumption. He has vandalized the site to no end and I have to constantly check on it to make sure that I have not been slandered. I believe that "trillionaire"'s other account "haddyrikabi" has already been deleted for vandalism. Any help would be welcome! 04:31, 10 February 2007 (UTC)kgregory04:31, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

I quit on this WBHS thing. Trillionaire 05:45, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should have done that a looong time ago. You're fighting a losing battle. kgregory 02:23, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request Deletion

[edit]

Delete I request this article to be deleted, since it is not a notable school. I'm sure it exists, but it is not eligible for an article. OfficerPhil 22:34, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DeleteThis article is not an important article about an educational facility with no importance. Please delete this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.119.21.139 (talkcontribs) 17:37, March 21, 2007

You're both welcome to pursue a deletion discussion; simply saying here on the Talk page that the article should be deleted isn't going to do any good. --ElKevbo 22:40, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The attempted submit for delete was not properly completed. If you feel the need to pursue please follow all the steps on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/Today#AfD_footer If I can be of any help please let me know. Jeepday 02:40, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So far so good OfficerPhil, as of this point in time you still need to complete the page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Biloxi High School, then list it on AfD using the link on the last step. When completing the section, Reason the page should be deleted be specific and it is helpful to site Wikipedia policy or guidelines that are appropriate (failing to do so may appear as a bad faith nomination, and reflect poorly on the nominator). Take your time and get your reason well written before completing step 3. I am about to call it a night, but I will check in again tomorrow. Jeepday 03:41, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help Please

[edit]

A newer editor has been trying for a couple days to get this AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Biloxi High School to work. He finally got the above article together but did not get posted correctly on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2007 March 22,[1] It is interesting to note that while the article is not showing up were it should be {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Evms consulting group}} {{Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Biloxi_High_School}} {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/James Edwin Davis}} it has managed to capture 4 delete votes. But that aside, I have assisted the user on the page Talk:Biloxi High School as much as I am able I do not feel it would be appropriate to do more then I have so far. This message will be posted on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents, Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Log/2007 March 22 and Talk:Biloxi High School Hoping someone can help out. Clean up

[edit]

I have carried out some badly needed cleaning up. In particular I have deleted lists of:

  • curriculum topics
  • sports
  • clubs

These are suited to the school website but not here.

I have also removed some sections on organisations that seem to be local chapters of national organisations rather than notable features for the School. TerriersFan 03:25, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The things that you have deleted only add to the, already present, notability of the school. These have all been approved by an editor and I would appreciate it if you would leave them alone. kgregory 23:01, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HELP PLEASE

[edit]

The user OfficerPhil has continued to make wrongful edits to the page. He has deleted extremely relevant information, and I believe him to be an extremist student at the above stated school. He deletes information that has already been entered as notable. The page is already up for deletion for non-notability and the information that he is deleting is what makes the school notable. Please assist in any way possible. kgregory

Who gave you permission to own this article? Putting up the classes and students is worthless. Look at other high schools on Wikipedia. Do they have a list of classes and students? Again, Wikipedia isn't a school directory. OfficerPhil 00:01, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fellow editor, it is clear to me that kgregory has removed the lists of students so I do not see how this page is effected by the wikipedia DATING policy. Please fully expound upon your reasoning before you make such drastic edits.Chase.munro 00:08, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And also note that you appear to be in violation of the Three-revert rule. Discuss your edits and work out your disagreements, please. --ElKevbo 01:06, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I do believe that this falls under the category of the 3RR but certain exceptions do apply to myself kgregory and chase.munro as we are reverting blatant vandalism. Also, I believe OfficerPhil is another banned user haddyrikabi which continues to make my case for clemency from the 3RR. kgregory 01:20, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was actually referring to OfficePhil. You may also be close to or in violation of the 3RR but I wasn't looking at your edits. --ElKevbo 02:35, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please, everyone involved, remind yourselves of two things: one, that we are working together to make a good article; two, that we need to take the long view of it: not what's here right this minute, but what will be here in a year or ten years. So it might seem really, really urgent to rid the page of this or that, or conversely to reinstate it, but is it really? Could you not discuss it here? Just post here what you want included or removed, rather than going ahead and doing it. We can all talk about it and try to agree. That way, we avoid yelling at each other that we're vandals and so on. Kgregory, I caution you that the 3RR policy exists to cool down edit wars. Quibbling over whether you were reverting vandal or a proper edit will not save you are blocked for it. Vandalism needs to be unambiguously in bad faith. You cannot judge something as vandalism simply because you don't agree with it. Take care with that.

And OfficerPhil, I agree with your position but you need to stay calm and negotiate here rather than battle it out in the editing. Because you are quite right in what you say, you can expect to prevail. If you don't, which will only be because the page is swamped with meatpuppets, you will be able to use other avenues, so stay cool.Grace Note 07:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

[edit]

How much longer will Biloxi High School remain under the Deletion Probation? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kgregory (talkcontribs) 20:30, March 24, 2007

"Deletion probation?" There's no probation implied by an ongoing AfD discussion. You're free to continue editing the article while the discussion continues. --ElKevbo 02:37, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry wrong "lingo" how long will this discussion continue? kgregory 02:48, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For a week after it began or until an admin decides to close it anyway, because it's destined not to succeed. Grace Note 07:28, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lists

[edit]

Please don't make lists of everything. First of all, lists of student officers are not acceptable. Wikipedia is not a directory and does not include lists of officeholders or the like. There are several reasons not to and I direct you to this page to get a better idea of what Wikipedia includes. Please also consider this policy, or at least the thought behind it. People have a right to privacy that many here feel Wikipedia should be careful not to infringe needlessly. Second, lists of school subjects are just boring. Really, they are. The point of an article is to tell us how this school differs from others. Only those facts that express that should be included. "You can learn maths there" is not a salient fact in this context. If the principal had outlawed maths, well... Grace Note 07:28, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The lists of students I have given up on and I agree with you all. As for the subject lists, ya'll were asking for notability and I am trying to give it, these lists only add to the notability by showing what the school has to offer and they are not boring if you should be a prospective student to BHS, seeing as we get over 100 applicants a week, and I will be replacing the lists that you have deleted because I view it as vandalism. kgregory
It's not vandalism - it's a content dispute. Please don't accuse other editors of vandalism simply because you disagree with their edits. --ElKevbo 17:01, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Lists of subjects do not speak to "notability". As I noted, you must include what is distinctive about this school, not what it has in common with any other school. A note that it has a very broad curriculum is fine. A list of subjects is not. I caution you that continuing to describe others' edits as vandalism is against the rules here. Please familiarise yourself with the policies of Wikipedia before editing any further, because you are going to run into trouble if you continue with this belligerent and aggressive style of editing. Grace Note 22:48, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
you might need to familiarize yourself with the same rules that you just asked me to read. You are being just as "belligerent" and "aggressive" as I am. kgregory
Not in the least. I am explaining my position here on talk, and removing the information that does not belong without any rancour. Grace Note 05:14, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to leave the class list deleted, but I am going to replace the sports section as it is interesting, can we please have a compromise with this? kgregory

How are the sports list different from the class list? Almost every school has sports. Read Grace Note's first comment above. This article doesn't need lists of anything, period. OfficerPhil 02:51, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. It's not improved any for having them. Kgregory, why not do some research into the history of the school? Find out more about it and then add that sort of stuff, rather than boring lists of this, that, the other, which our policy expressly forbids, and for good reason. Grace Note 05:14, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Enough

[edit]

Okay. Enough editwarring. OfficerPhil, Kgregory, put your cases here for the outcomes you want. Let's thrash it out instead of mindlessly fighting over it. Grace Note 08:47, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Basically All I care about is keeping the descriptions for the clubs currently on the site, ya'll can remove any and all lists but PLEASE leave the Descriptions. Compromise? kgregory
That sounds totally reasonable to me. You need to get rid of the bold type though. We only use that for the article subject on its first mention. Use italics for emphasis in the text. Grace Note 01:32, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK Great, Hopefully this will be the last time this ever happens! Thanks for all of your help Grace Note. kgregory

Fair use rationale for Image:Indian Mascot.gif

[edit]

Image:Indian Mascot.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:27, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Air Failure of 2007

[edit]

This does not deserve its own topic on the article. It was not that big of an event. All that happened was the air conditioning went out. Air conditioners go out all the time. OfficerPhil 02:46, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah but it sure will be remembered as a day of reckoning for all of us.

I stood up, if only for a brief second. Damn, I sure do miss the class of 2008, they were just awesome. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.119.113.6 (talk) 03:51, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
