Hi, I have not finished with the writing of the page on Boštjan M Turk. Beside being a university professor he is well known as a political commentator on various Slovenian TV Channels and writer of books on recent slovenian history. His books were already translated into French and English. I will be able to finish my writing by the end of next weekend. Please bare with me and make your decision once I am finished.

References

[edit]

If you wish to include a reference to a writer’s work, you don’t simply reference the book itself. You need an independent source (written by someone else) mentioning said book. Also, search results, personal web pages and the like aren’t sources. — Biruitorul Talk 22:13, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Francsolina: I encourage you to review WP:MOS, WP:PSTS, WP:RS, WP:CITE and other relevant policies. Moreover, you should contemplate the fact that it’s a bad sign when 90% of your references are blind citations of the subject’s own books. Has nobody else written about Mr. Turk? — Biruitorul Talk 11:13, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are some reactions of Turk's publications, for example: https://x.com/alexdelvalle3/status/1814369131732361439
But neither X or Youtube are considered as reliable sources on Wikipedia.
Books published by established publishers are on the other side considered as reliable sources. Books that Turk published with Slovenian publishers had each undergone 3-5 peer reviews before they were published. But these reviews are not publicly available. Mr. Turk also appears at least once a week in the talk show Factor: https://youtube.com/aCMEPZbP2zM?si=Tf0bHZxIl9Znq6k5 on one of the Slovenian independent TV channels.
In light of this situation I suggest to cite his books directly. When they will appear in English and French translation, as announced, I am sure some published reactions will soon appear. You should also bear in mind that the Slovenian community is very small - about 2 millions. Francsolina (talk) 09:48, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
