Reversion explanation

[edit]

Because User:Trevor MacInnis's edit seemed to be a good-faith edit, I wanted to offer an explantion of why I reverted it. Trevor, with an edit summary of cleanup, and a notation that the edit was a "minor" one, deleted the opening paragraph and moved the paragraph (with slight modification) of the ARIA mission aircraft up as the opening para. In doing so, he made it appear that all EC-135s are/were ARIA aircraft, especially by eliminating the "B" from the EC-135 model. The problem with this is that it isn't true. Granted, the ECs got their start as ARIA aircraft, but these were the B models, and this article encompasses all the EC-135 models. Properly, the ARIA aircraft details should be listed as a unique mission as the page was before Trevor's edit, so that's why I put it back that way. Akradecki 19:40, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yikes!

[edit]

This article includes the paragraph (if you can call it that): "Officially Known as "Operation Looking Glass" provided at least 11 EC-135C command post aircraft to the Commander in Chief, Strategic Air Command (CINCSAC), which were either based at its headquarters at Offutt AFB, Nebraska (1993-1998) Operated by the 34th Air Refueling Squadron (1961-1963 with EC-135A's}, {1963-1966 with EC-135C's); (38th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron (1966-1970); 2d Airborne Command and Control Squadron (1970 - 1994); 7th Airborne Command and Control Squadron (1994-1998), Barksdale AFB, Louisiana operated by the 913th Air Refueling Squadron (1963-1970), Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota operated by the 4th Airborne Command & Control Squadron (Looking Glass, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana missile silo coverage, Western Radio Relay 1970-1991), Grissom AFB, Indiana operated by the 3d Airborne Command & Control Squadron (Looking Glass 1970-1974/Eastern Radio Relay 1970-199-), or at Westover AFB, Massachusetts operated by the 99th Air Refueling Squadron(1963-1970). Other EC-135 Aircraft (EC-135A / EC-135G / EC-135L & Bases supporting the Looking Glass missions (Communications Relay and Minuteman Airborne Missile Launch Centers) were Minot AFB, North Dakota operated by the 906th Air Refueling Squadron(1963-1970) (Note: Ellsworth AFB maintained EC-135 aircraft on Satellite Alert at Minot AFB to cover the North Dakota missile silos), Grissom AFB, Indiana operated by the 70th Air Refueling Squadron (1975-1993), Lockbourne AFB, Ohio operated by the 301st Air Refueling Squadron (1963-1970 Eastern Radio Relay). All aircraft have been retired or repurposed" This is a mess! A bulleted list would be easier to figure out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.158.38.6 (talk) 19:01, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Blue Eagle

[edit]

My father -- William J. Denney -- flew on Blue Eagle. We were stationed at Hickam AFB from 63-68. I have a photograph marked "OFFICIAL USAF PHOTOGRAPH" of his flight team dated December 19, 1966. Point being BLUE EAGLE was in operation way before the dates shown here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rdenney (talkcontribs) 00:26, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
