Woolworth aircraft carriers
[edit]I was looking through old news archives for some details, costs etc, but so far I've come up empty. Using HMS Battler as a search term pulls up a bunch of articles around May 19, 1943 based on a United Press article. They talk about freighters converted into aircraft carriers which are exemplified by the Battler. Many of the articles say they were known as "Woolworth" carriers, for their five-and-dime low cost. --Dual Freq (talk) 00:34, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Rying controls?
[edit]Anyone know what those are? I can't seem to find anything about them. --UnneededAplomb (talk) 00:48, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Displacement?
[edit]What is the displacement of these ships? The numbers on the pages for the individual ships seem to be all over the place. 75.50.151.223 (talk) 02:26, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
- Displacements could vary considerably from unit to unit as modifications were made. The best you can do is give a nominal value (typically a design value) for the class as a whole. --Yaush (talk) 16:48, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
Ravager and Searcher
[edit]Ravager and Searcher are listed as Ruler-class on each of their own pages, and elsewhere, but are listed as part of the first group/Attacker-class here. Is one incorrect? Were they refitted from one class to the other? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:6000:130A:20F0:ECE7:97FC:AF2E:2482 (talk) 17:36, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
endurance
[edit]The range figure seems nonsensically high, even if it assumes that aircraft gasoline is used for ship propulsion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.181.74.97 (talk) 23:59, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Pennsy22: Since you added the range, what was your source? BilCat (talk) 00:27, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- I've got two different books that list this as the range. I'll add it to the main article.Pennsy22 (talk) 17:25, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
comparison with Casablanca class ships
[edit]It would be helpful to have a comparison of Bogue-class with the Casablanca-class escort carriers, in terms of size, aircraft complement, speed of construction, etc. Pete unseth (talk) 19:01, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
