Orphaned references in Brazil national football team competitive record
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Brazil national football team competitive record's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "Olympics 1992-":
- From Nigeria national football team: In the era of Nigeria's Olympic successes, the tournament has been restricted to squads with no more than three players over 23 years of age, and these matches are not usually regarded as part of the national team's record
- From Italy national football team: Squad limited to three players over 23 years of age: these games are not normally considered to be part of the record of the national team
- From Spain national football team: Since 1992, squads for Football at the Summer Olympics have been restricted to three players over the age of 23. The achievements of such teams are not usually included in the statistics of the international team.
I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 14:52, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Head-to-head session
[edit]The head-to-head table is just a summary of the number of matches played between national teams, a standard adopted in all similar articles from other countries. For more complex information about divergences between federations, incompatible match numbers, and better understanding of all, there are suitable places for this type of content, such as in the main scope of national teams in the sessions corresponding to the decades in which the matches took place. Svartner (talk) 16:20, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- I do not see correct this, Svartner, when there is a clear dispute in the count of matches between Argentina vs Brazil. I ask; why do you put in the table only the "Brazilian vision" (43 vs 41 leading) whitout considering the otre sources, that difer? I accept (because it´s the Brazil national team records and statistics article) that you put they are 43 vs 41, just because it´s a "Brazil´s" article and it cuold prevail the "brazilian view" here, only in this article. But it must also figure a note that says that those numbers are not accepted by AFA and other sources, and many sources say they are tied and many other sources say that Argentina leads by 1 match. Just a note clarifying this, and inviting the reader to visit the Argentina-Brazil football rivalry article. --Raúl Quintana Tarufetti (talk) 03:18, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- PD: By the other hand, what you say Svartner, that "the head-to-head table is only for a summary of the confrontations and not for more elaborate texts" [1], is not true. For example, look in the article of England national football team all-time record and you can clarely see that the "Head to head" part has lot of notes with lot of explicative content [2]. Another example is the Australia men's national soccer team all-time record here [3]. Another example I found is on the New Zealand men's national football team records and statistics here [4], in Moldova national football team here [5]...--Raúl Quintana Tarufetti (talk) 03:50, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- But the problem is not the note, so much so that I kept it the same in all editions, the problem is adding a disproportionate amount of text within a tab. It's not the right place, it's something simple to understand, but it's really difficult when everything you do in the project is WP:SPA. Svartner (talk) 04:34, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- The amount of text in the note is correct, because we have to explain why we include the note and why there is a dispute. Why should we take just one of the three visions or ways of counting? Why hide the other 2 views? Tell me... If we think, it should be in white, not in green... As you can see it´s not simple because there are 3 ways or views of counting in this match and sources for everyone. And please, see the head to head in these articles and see there are many of them with a similar amount of text in the notes explaining detalis or disputes. Please, see: England, Spain, Serbia, Germany, Tunisia, India, Australia New Zealand, Moldova, Northern Ireland. --Raúl Quintana Tarufetti (talk) 05:06, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- I already said that I don't see any problem in the three counts, on the Argentina-Brazil football rivalry page, which is where the information available in a complete manner belongs. Head-to-head counts can be summarized, including in Argentina, where the AFA count that disregards those matches can be used. It's just a matter of not introducing a huge amount of text into a table that should be a summary. Svartner (talk) 04:17, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
