Untitled[edit]

The article claimed that the Ten was developed from the CZ-75, but another part (apparently copied from a different web site) claimed some people simply thought it looked like one. So what's the story? Maury 21:44, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

As the article states, the Bren Ten was based on the CZ-75, which Jeff Cooper had a fondness for.--Davidwiz 04:06, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Past tense?[edit]

Should this article employ the past tense in describing the pistol? Is it correct? What does the manual of style say? It's still used by shooters and is rumoured to have been revived by Vltor. Koalorka (talk) 16:10, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

As I see it this varies between fire arms related articles. Most of WW I and WW II rifles have articles written in the past tense and lots of them are also still in use. By the way the Bren Ten factory literature shows they where not designed/produced on metric but on US customary measurements. Only the 5.12 in heigth for the Pocket Model does not really fit in well between the 0.1 or 0.25 inch measurements used in this pistol series.
I'll try to rearrange the conversion template. Do you have a spec table for it because going back from metric to imperial will result in a loss of accuracy. Koalorka (talk) 18:51, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Here are the Bren Ten dimensions:

Weight

  • 38 oz standard models
  • ? oz compact models (must be lighter compared to the standard models, since the barrel and slide is shorter)
  • 28 oz pocket model

Length

  • 8.75 in standard models
  • 7.75 in compact models
  • 6.90 in pocket model

Barrel length

  • 5.00 in standard models
  • 4.00 in compact models
  • 3.75 in pocket model

Width

  • 1.25 in standard and compact models
  • 1.00 in pocket model

Height

  • 5.75 in standard and compact models
  • 5.12 in pocket model

Effective range

  • 50 yd (for what that is worth in a sidearm)

Marksman Special[edit]

The Bren Ten Marksman Special pistols were made for The Marksman Police & Shooters Supply Company, in Glenview, IL. They were part of an initial trial order and chambered in .45 ACP because of the aversion of some shooters to using the more powerful and sharper recoiling 10mm cartridge. The initial order of 250 pistols was filled, but the project was discontinued as the manufacturing company began to fail. Of the 250 pistols received by The Marksman Police & Shooters Supply Company, an unspecified number were returned to the manufacturer because the fit tolerances of some parts were found unsatisfactory. It was not known by The Marksman what became of these returned pistols. <ref/ Sales Associate at the Marksman Police Company, circa 1988 and a purchaser of one of the Marksman Special pistols</ref/

If I understand correctly, this text is based on the unpublished recollections of a salesman at the company which ordered this model. Since the sourcing is so weak, and since it concerns a small number of pistols, many of which were returned to the manufacturer as being faulty, I'm inclined to just delete it. I've gone ahead and deleted it. Rezin (talk) 22:34, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
