Issues

  • Buck Rogers - the citation given isn't valid, the only mention of the word Buck is the headline. Plenty of headlines contain lame plays on names and I don't think that constitutes a reference that he is "nicknamed Buck". For my perspective, there was a little discussion on Watford forums on what nickname one could give him, and whilst Buck was popular so was Clodagh. Most people refer to him as Rogers. So I'd remove that.
  • The Watford manager ref contains more information on his career with Reading. When I have time, or if anyone else encounters this before me, it should be added in.
  • The ref states his wife's father played for Villa, Chester City and Shrewsbury. Any idea who that could be?
  • I removed the name of his daughter as there was no citation for that. HornetMike (talk) 18:36, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
A few more concerns: I still think the Buck stuff is spurious. I've never heard anyone actually call him that. It's just a hook for a tired headline writer/lazy journo looking for a hook. Also - the manager profile on the Watford site is no longer there, I don't know whether it can be recovered? HornetMike (talk) 17:18, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
Agree with the removal of the daughter's name as unreferenced; RS call him "Buck" so it should stay IMO; and the Watford page can now be found here. GiantSnowman 17:28, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Requested semi-protection

Knowing football fans this will soon be full of abuse Mycroft (talk) 18:46, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

I would suggest filing a request at WP:RPP. Regards, GiantSnowman 11:18, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
I did so, but was refused as there wasn't yet sufficient abuse to warrant protection. Having watched the page for the last 18 hours or so I'm inclined to agree with them, as there's only been one piece of vandalism thus far Mycroft (talk) 15:34, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm not surprised it was refused if "Knowing football fans this will soon be full of abuse" was your argument. DoyleyTalk 17:22, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Playing Career.

In the 1994/95 season, Brendan played for Newport(IW) F.C. in the Southern League. During that season he made 35 appearances scoring 4 goals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.157.12.222 (talk) 17:21, 30 May 2012 (UTC) Peter(81.157.12.222 (talk) 17:33, 30 May 2012 (UTC))

Do you have a reliable source that verifies that? GiantSnowman 18:13, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Most definately YES. I support the Newport club and was the programme editor at the time when Brendan played for the club. I have produced the clubs statistical history and have lots of evidence to prove it. Peter.(86.128.191.69 (talk) 20:18, 1 June 2012 (UTC))

The easiest way is obviously a website, but that's probably not feasible. Would you be able to scan a programme perhaps? I know it might be a pain but I'm sure you can appreciate the need to have information supported by sources. Thanks, GiantSnowman 20:21, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

I have looked out several pieces of evidence. A team photo, pen-pictures from an away programme, newspaper report of his debut for the club and the team line ups for an F.A.Cup match. Give me an email address and I shall forward them to you. Peter.(86.128.191.69 (talk) 17:03, 2 June 2012 (UTC)).

Liverpool Manager

Confirmed as Liverpool manager http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18272739 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Taffy056 (talkcontribs) 14:16, 31 May 2012‎

Please read closely:
The 39-year-old will sign a three-year contract at Anfield and his appointment is likely to be officially confirmed within 24 hours.
The article is talking about things that are possibly happening in the future, and Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. 14:25, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

== Son is a nonce, like farther like son --195.195.210.10 (talk) 14:15, 25 September 2015 (UTC)== I feel mention of his son's criminal trial violates WP:BLP and WP:UNDUE. GiantSnowman 15:28, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

I agree WP:UNDUE states: "isolated events, criticisms, or news reports about a subject may be verifiable and impartial, but still disproportionate to their overall significance to the article topic. This is a concern especially in relation to recent events that may be in the news." I think his son's situation fails under that & therefore shouldn't be mentioned. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 03:31, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
