Genre dispute

BMTH appear to have influences of death metal (vocals) and metalcore (rest of the band). Therefore, I believe them to be deathcore. On no stretch of the imagination, to me at least, are BMTH screamo... maybe they dress a bit emo, but bands are not given a genre just because of how they dress. However, if people would like to explain any musical reasons why they are screamo I would be more than happy to take them on board! But for now I will leave their page as metalcore (first album) and deathcore (new album). Asics talk Editor review! 19:55, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

There's no elements of screamo in the music, people who are changing it think that because they dress 'emo' and scream they are. Diabolical 18:24, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
You'll probably need some citations to back up the genre... Encyclopedia Metallum says they're metalcore[1], as does Rockdetector[2]-K@ngiemeep! 21:20, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
I understand this, however, it is obvious that they aren't metalcore, as vocals are way too death influenced... take old Trivium for example, they are metalcore...BMTH's vocals are much more Job for a cowboy influenced than anything else. However, citation is definately needed. Asics talk Editor review! 22:09, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Your assertion that the vocals are more growly would be considered OR if you don't have some sort of reliable 3rd party source that says that. I recommend finding some sort of article on a website that says that BMTH is deathcore and describes their vocal style - that'd be cool and it'd improve the article quality :)-K@ngiemeep! 22:26, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
I'll do my best at finding some! Asics talk Editor review! 23:09, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
I've found some citation for deathcore... Citation just search for deathcore and it will take you to a paragraph about Bring Me the Horizon!Asics talk Editor review! 12:39, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Death metal? Yeah, BMTH has influences from the genre (vocals) but it isn't death metal. Metalcore/Deathcore is fine I think. Plus, there are no reliable sources (at least none that I have found) saying they are death metal, while they are many calling them deathcore or metalcore. -- FatalError (talk | contribs) 02:52, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to point out that under no circumstance is Bring Me The Horizon Metalcore, or Death Metal for that fact.

BMTH ISN'T emo, I hve a vintage/indie style and I love Bring Me The Horizon and everyone who thinks theyre metal should take a good look at them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CrunchPuff (talkcontribs) 16:40, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

They incorporate both genres into their music however, which results in deathcore. And as for their first EP, not album, This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Is Made For, it is more Mathcore, also not Metalcore. I'd appreciate if you could change this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KeyanFretwell (talkcontribs) 15:10, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

are you guys serious?? we all no BMtH fits in the hardcore genre!! and BMtH have great lyrics listen to them and u will understand jus take ur time!! oh and BMtH are theyre own band they arnt like any1 else they are completely uniqu!! last time i checked that was a good thing so leave em alone —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 08:48, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Their first EP is Metalcore/Mathcore Their First Album is Deathcore and Their Second is closer to Post-hardcore than anything. Its certainly not metal core, cause its more more structured, and less wreckless. (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 21:12, 3 October 2008 (UTC). ^--- Agreed, early - metalcore, later deathcore should be sufficiant.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FaceCavity (talkcontribs) 11:12, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

BMTH is metalcore. The argument that they have "death metal influences" is stupid. If you listen to any actual death metal band (ex. Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, Nile, Origin, etc.) it's obvious that there is almost no similarities. Death metal is known for blastbeats, death growls, and downtuned guitars; whereas BMTH uses generic drums, screams (which is closer to black metal then anything but they fit less in that genre then they do in deathcore), and an overabundance of breakdowns, which I'd like to mention to those that don't know is a hallmark of metalcore. Also someone should take off the explanation of Deathcore and just redirect it to the deathcore article —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 05:25, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Is anyone going to mention...

That they are a bad rip-off of At the Gates et. al with a overgenerous sprinkling of breakdowns?

No one will mention that as it is POV which wikipedia forbids. However, if you find creditable sources, it would be fine to add it on. Asics talk Editor review!
Hold the front page, Metalcore band rips off At The Gates! Diabolical 15:13, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Well maybe I should link something like a comparison of their songs? Also I think Ollie Sykes' own opinion on the band should be included.

Thanks for that, we had been looking for citation for it! Asics talk Editor review! 18:48, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

At the Gates is too goo to even be compared with BMTH —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 05:20, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Metallica Tribute & Olisaurus

Has anyone got any citation for these two statements in the Other Projetcs section? If there is no citation, they will need to be removed. I have donw my best at citing the rest of the article, which did involce removing certain parts and replacing with more relevant info etc. But I couldn't find citation for these two parts. Any ideas anyone? Thanks, Asics talk Editor review! 15:05, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
There is an interview with Capital Chaos in which a band member confirms members of Bring Me The Horizon were in Metallica tribute band "Fifth Column". As for Olisarus I personally have the sound files for the songs "As Drunken As An Owl" and "Girls" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tommdawwwgg (talkcontribs) 17:15, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Pirates of the Caribbean

Did they take their name from Pirates of the Caribbean? (Dyingswansong 20:45, 23 May 2007 (UTC))

      • Yes

The name 'Bring me Horizon' is a misquote the final line of the film and only point Jack Sparrow mentions bringing of any horizon is as follows:

"Jack : [walks over to the helm and looks around fondly] On deck, you scabrous dogs! Man the braces! Let down and haul to run free. Now...bring me that horizon. [hums and takes out his compass] And really bad eggs?drink up, me 'earties, yo ho."

Taken from the actual script as found at [[ ]] and cross referenced by the film its self. (talk) 07:24, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Confirmed by the band on the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2008 DVD, so I'll add it.--MartinUK (talk) 10:23, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Nottingham incident

We have sources, so this should remain. The exact wording, and the details are subject to debate, but information about the incident should be included in some form. exolon 22:00, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

  • I've added the info from the edits I reverted regarding the second court appearance, but we need a citation link if anyone can find one, I couldn't! exolon 22:11, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
    • Please dicuss here before removing info from this section!exolon 00:53, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
      • I've edited to make more prominent the whole incident is at this time only alleged, not proven. Other editors please feel free to tweak wording as necessary to this end. exolon 21:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
      • the band have NOT been banned from Rock City - this is just rumour. I have deleted this entry. Also, I;m sure Wikipedia wouldn;t be happy with you saying 'many have condemned'. I thought you weren't meant to write that?
        • Please sign your edits using four tilde marks like this ~~~~. Feel free to reword the "many have condemned" line - I didn't write it, merely restored it. If you have a source showing that the band haven't been banned from the club, then cite it and add the information. At the moment we've got a source for the banning, and no source to say they are not. So it's gone back in.exolon 18:33, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
          • Just beacuse a journalist says they are banned does not mean that they are. If they were banned, then how is that they are play there on the first of december? Ring up anybody at Rock City and they will tell that they are not band. Ask the promoter, tour manager, label, whoever you like. THE BAND ARE NOT BANNED FROM ROCK CITY.
            • Ringing up Rock City is original research and not allowed (see WP:OR). Find a press release from the band or preferably the venue stating this. Or a link on the Rock City site showing the upcoming show would be fine as well. In short we need EVIDENCE, not just your random comment. exolon 22:36, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
              • I've found the listing on Rock City's site, so will link and add relevant commentary. exolon 22:40, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
                • Thank you - and this is not just my 'random comment'. I work directly with this band. The journalist or whoever said that they were banned was speculating and wrong.
                  • No problem. Without wanting to labour the point, please be aware that we can't take your word for it that you work with the band - anyone can say this. You're welcome to edit and contribute to the article but please understand the various policies that apply - especially WP:NPOV, WP:RS & WP:COI in your case. exolon 18:28, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

nottingham incident?

I am a friend of BMTH on myspace and they posted a bulletin stating that they have not replaced their drummer or singer and that stuff like that are just rumours. Deathcore =/= Black Metal

I also wouldn't call them Death Metal either, that's why they're DEATHCORE. Similar, but not quite the same thing.

Also, where it says that Bludgeoned to Death is an unreleased song is complete fucking bullshit, that song is in no way, shape or form Bring me the horizon's, that song was written and recorded by Suicide Silence and released on their album the cleansing

Bring Me The Horizon Shirt Art Stolen

I have seen this graphic on, that was NOT created for BMTH, that did NOT have the text "bring me the horizon" on it, and was NOT on a shirt, it was just that girl by herself... although, i have not seen it in a very long time and its such a small If anyone else sees it please reply, if anyone has any info about bmth purchasing/getting rights to use that image please just delete this.. I remember commenting about how awesome it was and how i liked bmth, she said "what's bmth?" it must've been kinda sh**ty to have that happen.. I am just VERY curious about what's going on here because if BMTH stole it and put it on a shirt, that'd be pretty screwed up.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Forgetclosure (talkcontribs) 06:05, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

well, artists tend to have pages on sites like deviantART, so it could of been their page or something similar, although i've seen similar style work on other band shirts, so I'm guessing it was done by artist who does shirts for metal bands and such. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 11:30, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Is Oli Sykes not notable for his own article, regardless of the fact that he personally owns a clothing company? Not done: It is correct. Look at U2. SpigotMap 15:48, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Then the U2 page is wrong as well.. Bring Me The Horizon is the name of a singular band. Therefor, it should read as "Bring Me The Horizon *is* a band" . Bring Me The Horizon isn't a bands(plural) it is a band(singular) It would only be appropriate to use 'are' if you are referring to the band as 'they' which implies all the of the members(plural). But like I said above, when referring to the band as it's actual name, "Bring Me The Horizon", it should read "is", since BMTH is the singular name of a band not of a bands(plural) Same with U2.. U2 is the name of a singular band .. so it should read as U2 *is* a band .. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 14:54, 27 July 2010 (UTC) ahh, I just went to edit the U2 page(ha ha) and see that you british folk use the plural 'are' when us americans would use 'is', in this situation.. so I guess it could go either way. and I bet since BMTH are a british band ;) it will stay as "are" —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 14:59, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

I would like to be able to edit the 'Bring Me The Horizon' band page on Wikipedia. I work at their record label, Visible Noise and we are preparing for their upcoming album and single release. Currently, the new album's name is incorrect. In the Discography it says the upcoming album is called "There Is A Hell, I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret" but the album name should be "There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret".

I would also like to be able to edit this page generally in the future as it is important to us to maintain correct information on the Wikipedia site for the band 'Bring Me The Horizon'.

If you would like to contact us via email to verify who we are, please do so at or visit our website

Oli is attacked by Jesus?

"During a tour, Bring Me the Horizon and Architects filmed a video showing fights between Oliver Sykes and Architects' lead singer Sam Carter. The video was filmed at an all-day event in Karlsruhe, Germany and shows what seemed to be Jesus committing acts of physical violence towards Oliver. The video was uploaded onto the online video website, YouTube of which it attracted thousands of hits. This video outraged many Bring Me the Horizon fans causing many people to send hate mail towards Sam Hitler."

why is that the reason for why they got their name?

i am not sure about the reason given, "They acquired their name based on a line taken from the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, in which Captain Jack Sparrow shouts "Now... Bring me that horizon."." that is ridiculous, and the source just points to the script. am i allowed to delete it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kristiantruthbringer (talkcontribs) 08:58, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
