Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because it is the history of a professional organisation. Please compare this page to the version for it's sister organisation, the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat: they are very similar in content, so I cannot see why one would be be considered CSD A1, A3, A7 or G11. This is the first draft of the text, which has been saved in current format while sources for links are compiled. Badcsecretary (talk) 21:04, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Badcsecretary: Please read WP:N. Article subjects must be sourced to sources independent of the subject; the currently provided sources seem to be connected to the subject's website. Also, note that the existence of its sister organization's article on Wikipedia does not automatically make it notable. Mori Calliope fan talk 21:11, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To repeat the above: This is the first draft of the text, which has been saved in current format while sources for links are compiled. Yes, the one source that has currently been provided is to the subject website, because that is the first line of text. It has not been submitted for review. Yet you are already trying to delete it.
There was no statement that the existence of a sister organisation should make this article notable. This will come from the sources.

I'll remove the speedy deletion tag, because I actually don't see anything blatantly promotional; feel free to continue working on it. Mori Calliope fan talk 21:24, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for removing speedy deletion tag. I will submit the text for review when the the sources have been linked.
I have to say that this is the first time I have interacted with Wikipedia in this way, is this typical of the way new articles are treated? This feels adversarial. Badcsecretary (talk) 21:32, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry for the inconvenience, this is not how draft articles are typically treated. However, I would also like to let you know that your username appears to represent an organization rather than an individual, which is disallowed by username policy, and you might want to change your username. Mori Calliope fan talk 21:36, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the heads up: I will submit the username change request now. Badcsecretary (talk) 21:41, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
